I just recieved my TT GF4 cooler and ASIII. After reading this article http://www.monster-hardware.com/articles/ti4600max%201.htm , Im still not real sure about lapping the GF4 core.

I happen to have some very very fine sandpaper...DO I sand the core smooth? Hmmm need a little advise on this subject.

Also in the pic of the actual Vmod , Is that basically just a 4.7 restistor soldered to the V controller ? Thats it?

Duh.. My Vagp reads 1.53 in BIOS , what does this vmod bring it up to?

Thank you for the many responses , you guys rock!

After lapping the GF4 core , and reapplying ASII I have been successful at getting the core OC'd up to 315-318. Previously I was lucky to get 3Dmark to run at all at 310 on the core. I guess lapping REALLY helps!

Memory seems to be another problem though. Chaintech has bonded aluminum HS's to the chips - and they are ON there good. CAn anyone suggest a method tom remove these ?

Would someone list the resisitor or Ohm they used and which legs they soldered to for the increase in vmem on their GF4?

Hi KChip,

Dont try to remove the HS if they are bonded.

You will remove the ram... or break it.

If they are attach with termotape, its bop of after 10 min in -20 degree.

Update:

I have successfully vmodded my card , but.......Im a little dissapointed with top core speed. Heres what Ive done to the card.

Soldered 1k to Legs 11 and 14 of SC1102.
Soldered 750 Ohm to 18 and 20 of SC1175

Reattached TTGF4 cooler with ASIII
Replaced the stock ramsinks with nickel plated copper ramsinks ( OCsystems)

MAX OC - 325/750 ....but inconsistant in loops. Locks sometimes.

320/740 Runs and runs.

Is it my TTGF4 cooler holding me back or maybe try a 750 ohm on the SC1102 for added vcore?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi,kchip

My Chaintech Ti4600 with Danger Den W/B UN-Vmodded runs at 345/745.
Haven't tried the Vmod Yet,but Probably gonna try it soon!

its one of two things first that g4 cooler is a piece of crap and is so loud. i had that and even with vmod i maxed at 340(A3 core) and then it would only do a couple of runs of 3dmark before lockup.. i installed a modded slk-600 and it runs at 380 today max and 360 24/7.... what core stepping do you have???

OK ,

Ive redone the vmodd again:

680 on the SC1102
680 on the SC1175

It didnt help. Its gotta be the temp's on the core.

MAX OC now 320/770. Im bummed. I really cant put a CPU cooler on the core without moving my LAN card to a different slot. Its currently in slot 2 . I went through hell it seemed like to get the right configuration for IRQs.

A watercooling setup is what I want , but $200-300 bucks for the setup I want. I dont have at the moment.

680 is WAY too low of a resistor. Try using a 4K resistor. You're getting TOO much voltage increase and heating up too much.
