I'd like to know if you guys know of a place in manhattan to pick up 2 htc g1 cell phones for a reasonable price ( I've seen really good ones at ebay for 130 or less)

Try searching craigslist (www.craigslist.org) :)
looked at it but I need a local pickup for it and I do not understand how craiglist works

People post advertisements there and you can contact them without them telling their real email address in public. You can arrange a local pickup, in fact, most of the deals on craigslist end up in local pickups.
Just select a city or even a district in which you want to meet, and it will only display items being sold in that area. Easy as pie :up:

the t-mobil G1 is the HTC Dream.
i have one if you like one. it's used and i broke the back cover but i have a protective shell around it now

Yes that weird email redirects to the seller's proper email. He'll reply you from his real address.
