Hello,

Finally got the financials for a new monitor.
Have narrowed it down to these two candidates.

Which is the best to buy and why?

Quick sum-up (paper-specs only):

Dell U2410:
H-IPS / CCFL
1920x1200 (WUXGA) / 16:10
6ms Response
400cd/mē
Component Video, D-Sub (VGA), Display Port, DVI-D, HDMI
€370,-

HP ZR24W:
S-IPS / CCFL
1920x1200 (WUXGA) / 16:10
5ms Response
400cd/mē
D-Sub (VGA), Display Port, DVI-D
€355,-

I know it's all paper specs and say nothing about the performance of the monitor, therefor I like to know your opinion:

What monitor to choose and specially, why?

And what about the complaints about green/ pink tints on both monitors? (more on the Dell though).

Thank you

I have the U2410 and love it. No problems with tinting.

Previous monitor was the Dell 2407.

Thank you all for the votes and information..

By the way, TFTCentral.co.uk says:

Dell U2410: 24"WS LG.Display H-IPS (LM240WU4-SLB1)
HP ZR24W: 24"WS LG.Display IPS (LM240WU7)

Almost the same yes.

I bought the Dell U2410 :)

Finally good replacement of my goo'old CRT screen :D
First TFT/LCD that I have seen 'live' that comes close to the colors of my CRT.
Even if it is already 10 years old.
What a room on my desk, darn :)

By the way, here two photo's of the monitor on a black background, with lights out and no flash (fcourse):

'Night' mode, very long shuttertime:

Normal mode without flash:

Thats pretty nice for an LCD, not?
Now, let's find some DataColor Spyder somewhere :)

If you want to properly calibrate a Wide Gamut display such as the Dell U2410, you will need to use Coloreyes Display Pro. It is best just to get the ColorEyes Display Pro Spyder3 Bundle here (http://www.integrated-color.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CEDP-SP&Category_Code=Display+Calibration).

Other colorimeters don't correctly handle wide gamut or only "profile". This is the proper solution

Does the U2410 NEED to be calibrated? I really dont want to spend close to a thousand bucks on a monitor + calibration hardware.
