Just something small and simple, one knob to change the speed.

I have 4 140mm fans that i will wire all togther. I want a small box, or something nice and neat that i can mount on top of my rad (it's an external setup) where i can make it silent or allow them to be on full.

Im not after anything fancy, led, vfd etc

Edit: Think it's a ''Rheostat'' that i need

Just go to Lowes and pick up a switch and make your own. Much cheaper.

You shouldn't have to spend more than $10 or $12 depending on the wattage you need.

Here's several...

Good luck!:)

It appears you have four, 6 watt fans, so you'll need a 25 to 30 watt rheostat.

Sorry to intrude but would I need a 25W for 8 Ultra Kazes?

It depends on which ones they are??? Most 120mm fans draw about 250 to 350ma. Let's use 300ma as an average. 300ma x 12v = 3.6 watts x 8 = 28.8 watts.

So, if your fans draw approx. 300ma, (.3 amp), you'll need a 30 watt rheostat for 8 of them. You need to find out either the current rating, or the wattage, of each of those Ultra Kazes.

I read on the Scythe website: 0.25A with 12V = 3W *8 = 24W. I'll just get a 30W to be safe. Also how would one go about wiring them? I have two of these http://www.zalman.co.kr/DataFile/product/ZM-MC1_01_m(0).jpg Would I just chop of the molex and solder them to the pot's connections?

a rheostat is put directly inline with the power wire. You just cut the power wire and put the rheostat where you made the cut. Solder one wire to one side and the other wire to the other. From the looks of your pic above you would need two rheostats, and you would cut the power wire coming the from the computer side. But, if you want to control each fan independently, then you will need 8 rheostats, and you would cut the red and yellow wires and put them there. You would also have to recalc what size rheostat you'd need.
