I doubled my 1.6A's default FSB today :D

ASUS P4T533 ... with a DDR board this would actually have been a lot easier, but I like to make things hard on myself I guess and do it with RDRAM.

The BIOS doesnt allow me any more than 200 MHz, but then again, 200 is a nice number and I doubt I could push her to 201 ;)

WOW, now that's what I call bandwidth, just incredible. Any special method of reaching that speed, beside promethea :D
Btw. is that speed stable for some 3dmark testing ?

JCviggen
08-22-2002, 11:23 AM
I think for 3Dmark i'm going to have to drop to around 195-196, but I still have poor CPU contact... not sure how far the board will allow 3D yet...

JC - i sorted the poor contact thing - I had the same. All you need to do is to take your top mounting with metal clip out. Turn it upside down and push the metal clip down as if it was being pushed towards the cpu. Youll then see a gap between the metal clamps clip connectors and the plastic mount. I chopped up a zip tie and stuck the bits of it underneath. This basically moves the metal clamp about 2mms closer to the cpu giving you much better cpu contact (but not overpressuring due to the spring screws). Dropped my load temps from +2c to -11c :D.

It sounds a bit complicated and unclear, but if you have a look youll see what I mean.

Nice job on the 1.6a. How you finding that asus board?

PiLsY.

As always my friend, excellent job and wonderful effort pulling that astronomical bandwidth:)

im just gobsmacked on that JC dont know what to say ... awsome ..excellent....

btw
what vcore to get it there .... ??

JCviggen

Thanks guys :) Always wanted to do a 100% OC ... especially with a proc thats fast to begin with ;)

Pilsy, I've done that too once. Well kind of like that. I'm on my 3rd Prometeia case actually :D ... I sold one, and one developed some problems

dmitriyaz
08-22-2002, 01:43 PM
wow, i always wondered if a 100% OC on newer CPUs is possible...
great job!
what Vcore is it at?

JCviggen
08-22-2002, 01:49 PM
around 1.90V with the bad contact... with good contact, 1.80 should do it...

dmitriyaz
08-22-2002, 01:52 PM
eh Viggen, Viggen :hehe:
you are aware that you'll kill it eventually on that Vcore, right?

yup
Thats why I dont run it at that the whole time... although it wouldnt be such a tragedy if this chip took a dump... only a 1.6A ... would be unpractical though

You certainly do well with that setup.

how much changes to the p4t533 did you need for that overclock to be possible?
and what ram are you using, it's @ 3x200, right?
cuz 4*200 is quite impossible i guess, and that'd give you probably 5000 in sisoft.

Heh... well I think everyone else has said what I'm thinking. Gotta love those 100% oc's!

97.3% OC (http://www.solidhardware.com/macci/3160.gif) w/ 1.6A using aircooling (Volcano7+) ;)
I had it at 3193MHz but it crashed when I tried to save the screenshot :P
Cant wait to see how far this p4t533-c can go when I put some good cooling on CPU (TH7-2 maxed out at 191 and p4t-e at 198 for 3dmark benching).

Amazing overclocks guys. Someone should make phase change cooling for RDRAM so JC could run it in 4X mode ;).

Nice one, but they did it a bit earlier on a Abit TH7-II with Custom DCRGs, VCore Mod, VRimm Mod.

He could just put some dry ice on the ram, I bet that'd be good for it :)
