If you do, how is overclocking, performance, stability, etc? What is your overall experience?

I'm planning on using 8GB or more for my next build.

well I'm planning on buying 4gbs sticks but they'll be 2000mhz,G.skill Flares.
I'll probably have them under clocked to 1600mhz or lower.
I don't think I could make it to the NB speeds and core speed needed to make use of them at 2000mhz on air.

as for me right now I'm single 1600mhz 2gb stick temporarily until next week.

as I recall someone used the ECC memory settings to help stabilize 2000mhz ram.

You're telling me you can enable ECC memory settings on non-ECC memory to help stabilize it at high over clocks? Find out for me who this "someone" is and let this forum know EXACTLY what settings they used! I'm going to go to my BIOS right now and enable ECC on my system. If it does not boot or catches fires and burns me over 80% of my body, I will not be very happy.

Non-ECC ram does not have an ECC chip, enabling ECC will do jack squat. Unless it does something to the IMC.

anyways link in there is dead but he used the L3 cache scrub.
along with a few other things.

you need ECC memory to enable ECC
Just like you need an engine connected to your cars ignition for it to work.
Just having the ignition doesn't make it happen with out the engine..:D

L3 cache scrub is not ECC in the memory. The L1, L2, and L3 cache scrubbing is all the processors cache. So ya you *should* be able to enable those and get them working. But any memory ECC stuff will not work at all unless you have ECC RAM.

But I am not sure how processor cache scrubbing can stabilize faster RAM speeds. the problem he was having was probably on the processor side of things with a NB at 3GHz and the core at 4.2GHz+ rather than the memory.

Look at his Everest numbers...I can beat that with DDR2...
