View Full Version : Onkyo Receiver Turning Volume Down By Itself?

It just started doing it recently. It's no turning off. It's just decreasing the volume by 5-15. Does it at high and low volume. Also when it does it, the display does not show it turning it down the volume. Also seems to take a couple of minutes for it to do it?

Any help?

Gear? Audio input is from? Receiver model?

I think there is a setting to reduce loud noise late at night, might make sure that isn't enabled. I don't know if it actually turns down the volume, but that is the only reason I can think of that this would happen short of a firmware bug (which could well exist).

Overheating FETs?

If they are MOSFET design they would lose efficiency and volume if they are heating up too much

How do you have it hooked up to the source? Some modern devices support controlling each other over links, the idea being you could control your receiver volume (or power on state) by using just the regular TV remote for example. Maybe that's producing some unintended side-effects.
