Hi all, just got my new gaming laptop yesterday. Prostar 5694, the same as the AlienWare except 4500rpm drive and SXGA+ screen. I got it with the 2.0g .13u Northwood CPU, which is okay, but no Athlon by any means.
The machine will play any games just fine. I was playing Wolfenstien yesterday at 1024x768x32 full detail, and was getting 40-50FPS. No AA or Ansitropic or anything, but still pretty good. About 5000 3dMark2001SE score. So in line with my old GF2Pro.
Problem is, its a notebook, which means no tweaks in BIOS. Im all for software means of overclocking. What is a good utility for raising FSB on the 845MP? And what is a good Ati tweak utility which has OC'ing?
Cooling of this thing is not bad. It has good fannage and I can tell that it spreads the heat alot better than my old Thinkpad. I dont really plan on stripping it down just yet to put in better thermal goop and fans, but any minor overclock would be nice. Im sure I could get 6000 3dmarks out of her easy eventually.
Really interested in ram timing tweaks. Ram scores are low for this board. Its PC2100 CL2.5. All low timings. I bet I could get this to CL2.0 if I could find an easy tweak. I know theres Wcpreset but, im not sure if I could find the right tweak file for the 845MP.
