Dear all,

I have a problem with my laptop. I installed starcraft 2 and it says it does not "recognize my video card". My laptop is a DV6 series of HP with ati mobility 4650. I decided to uninstall the video card driver and install the latest ones in case it fixed the problem. However when I try to run ati's downloader, it says that my card is not recognized and i'm stuck with the windows 7 driver if I want it to work. Is there any way to download the 10.7 mobiltiy driver without having to go through the downloader? Any tips? Please help me :) I'm grateful for your time

u ether have to get the driver from HP as u dont have an ati 4650m u have an hp 4650m. or u have to find the device ID for your card then find the equivalent in the drivers ini file and replace it with the one for your card.

I have the DV6-1140EL model
If someone could tell me step by step what to do I would be grateful...excuse my ignorance.

Please help me someone, I tried installing different packages and none installs the drivers. On restart it just autoinstalls the drivers available on windows update which are outdated :( Please someone? I have a DV6-1140EL HP with 4650 gpu.

Here is a link for the latest HP Certified driver for your notebook.

This is too old, and for some reason the game doesn't recognize my card as a 4650 with that driver.. :(

Have a try with this tool. Should allow you to install regular 10.7 on your laptop with a 5650. Good luck!

I hate HP drivers...they are modified FirePro drivers for notebooks. It's horrible and they are buggy.

That tool hasn't worked either.. I hate HP drivers as well, I think they are seriously downgrading the performance of my mobility 4650 :(

look in your pm box, i sent u a link on rapid share with the customized drivers that should work, i dont know about the package and its only good for 10 dloads so i will wait to post the link until u get it.

for the next time, u may want to flash the bios to have a real cards device ID, but since u got lost when i was explaining the driver moding in the pm stream we had, u may not want to do that

Im not sure if this is relevant but i've had so many problems with 10.7 on my desktop using 3 monitors, It never detects the Displayport Monitor, well it does but it doesnt detect its resolution which is 1920x1200, instead goes down to like 600x400, ive tryed everything possible, so i rerolled back to 10.6 and everything works fine!

Thanks for the help Zanzabar, however I couldn't get it to work with the drivers you sent me either. It just wouldn't allow me to install them, or wouldn't see the device when I tried to do it manually so I couldn't select it in order to proceed :(

Data problem? I said that? I only said that the laptop wouldn't find any compatible driver and wouldn't allow me to proceed with the installation :(
