my lil cousin plays pc games. mostly multiple instances of WoW, or TF2, street fighter iv, modern warfare. Also Star Craft 2 when it comes out and Diablo 3

He is current using a 9500gt at 1650x1050 res. needless to say he cant really turn up the detail. I have 2 extra cards, a HIS 4670 and a PNY 9600gso 768. He got a 4.0 and i feel like rewarding him.

which one is gonna be better for him at 1650x1050.

The 4670 doesn't OC much. i think it can run at 800/2000 stable

I haven't played with the 9600 gso yet but common clocks are 700/1900

which should i give him for better performance?

Thanks

I would say 9600gso in this case. A 4670 is slower than a 3850 and the 9600gso can trade blows with a 3870.

Hi.

I think that he should go with something new like a 5770 or 5830 both are more expensive that the 4670 but can handle better resolutions and have better proof life.

i disagree it depends on what u are doing, with dx10/10.1 the 4670 will be faster and the 4670 will also have more power, at the time when both were new low shader counts were utilized better that is no longer the case. a gso 512 or 9600gtx might be faster but i dont think that it will without overclocking

I dont think the OP is looking to buy a new card, but to give his cousin one of the 2 he listed (he has spares)

I would say for the games you listed the 9600.
