I want to get a decent Home Theather and also a receiver that i can use to listen to music from once in a while.

I've been looking around and there are some really nice stuff but also really expensive.

My budget is USD 500 just for the receiver i want one that i can upgrade the speakers in the future and not have to change it.

This is the cheapest i found and might do it:

Yamaha HTR-6240BL 525-Watt 5-Channel Home Theater Receiver (USD 229 sale price - Regular price USD 375)
http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-HTR-6240BL-525-Watt-5-Channel-Receiver/dp/B001S2RDAY/ref=br_lf_m_1000515741_1_3_img?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=electronics&pf_rd_p=1265180862&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000515741&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1P4CPQTXXFZZMQJC7MSG

Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K 7-Channel A/V Receiver (Black) (sale price USD 399 - regular price USD 499)
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-VSX-1019AH-K-7-Channel-Receiver-Black/dp/B001UADEPC/ref=br_lf_m_1000515741_1_1_ttl?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=electronics&pf_rd_p=1265180862&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000515741&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1P4CPQTXXFZZMQJC7MSG

And probably the best by far:

Yamaha RX-V1065BL 7.2-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver (Black) (sale price USD 530 - Regular price USD 999)
http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-RX-V1065BL-7-2-Channel-Digital-Receiver/dp/B002CVTOXE/ref=br_lf_m_1000515741_1_4_img?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=electronics&pf_rd_p=1265180862&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000515741&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1P4CPQTXXFZZMQJC7MSG

Onkyo TX-SR707 (http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR707-7-2-Channel-Surround-Receiver/dp/B002DSMNPC/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1277385260&sr=8-2-fkmr0)

I picked this one because it seems to appeal to a larger group. I'd personally pick the 1019 since I'm partial to Pioneer. No two people experience sound the same way so one person's sweet sounds are another person's noise.

Denon-AVR2310CI (http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR2310CI-7-1-Channel-Multi-Zone-Connectivity/dp/B002AKKFPS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1277385893&sr=1-4)

Is another one to keep your eye on. I must say, a lot of this will come down to features and personal tastes. There isn't a lot of differences in any of these receivers IMHO!
