I am about to buy a wireless router. Im wondering if I should get 802.11b or 802.11g. I would just buy the g however I have seen some huge sales on b routers. I will not be transferring files from computer to computer much. And since b is 22mbps it should be plenty fast for my approximately 3mbps cable internet right? Or will b get to slow when I get decently far away? However this is only to be used in my house not outside.
Thanks

speaken from personal experance(having 2 802.11 b routers (by d-link)) they work fine. i even play cs over it once in a while and there is never any lag. hope that helped.

Thank you for the quick reply! That is great news! However I was wondering... do you still have about the same bandwidth. Is the mbps about the same when you test them? Also two other quick questions if you dont mind. How far could you go from the base and still have it be fast? Also, do you like D-link, I have seen some good deals on those. I have heard there are some compatibility issues with them when they are installed, is this true?

I found a cheap router but im not sure if it is good enough to give me full speed cable internet. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=405625&Sku=N100-1436%20P
Would this be able to give me full speed net? Also it says that is can go up to 74mbps, but its an 802.11a router so shouldnt it max at 11mbps?
Thanks
