if this was 1ms rise-to-fall i'd be impressed, but i think it's another grey-to-grey measurement. would prefer a 2ms panel with 120hz anytime though ;)

1ms and 100.000:1 contrast, don't think it'll be even fast enough to beat the first gen 120Hz LCDs in response time as they are like twice as fast as 60Hz LCDs yet advertised the usual 3ms or so. Also wonder if it even is capable of 900:1 static contrast ratio. Probably aggressive as hell overdrive technology used to cut the ghosting down to minimum which if that's the case doesn't work that good most of the time. Just look at Acer's 120Hz that most people keep disabling overdrive function in order to not go mad about the rainbow colored shades around text etc.

The design of the ViewSonic monitors keeps improving though, the new models that's gonna be launched early summer looks quite a lot better than any other ViewSonic products IMO.

A shame I don't have any interest in a 60Hz LCD though and 120Hz LCDs are releasing to the market very slowly. ViewSonic 23.6" LED-backlit 120Hz is the closest hope in near future of a somewhat plausible decent 120Hz panel worth upgrading to.

wait, don't ASUS have a 27" 120hz coming very soon for $399?

I can hardly see why you'd get this over the ASUS

Honestly 60Hz is fine with me...I don't feel like waiting another year or two for someone to make monitor like the Dell U2410 with a 120Hz screen at the same price point it is now.

The only way this Viewsonic is $350 - it is using a Twisted Neumatic panel.

whats the deal with LED? the fact that most are TN, image & colors are not going to improve drastically vs IPS or S-PVA, correct me if i'm wrong

no 2560 is a deal breaker for me, guess I'll still be saving for that 27" dell.

it's such a pain waiting for these type of panels... there's almost NO real progress going on. kinda frustrating.

ViewSonic Unleashes World's First 27'' Full-HD Monitor with 1ms Response Time!

translating: viewsonic wants to sell a crapola $10 buck TN based TFT (manufacturer cost) for the gamming community!

Odd that they tout it as being ideal for gaming AND entertainment? Yeah right, the nice skin tones on that example pic would suddenly become smeared with odd colors in darkly lit movie scenes when the TN panel it uses can't manage a full color gamut. I don't know why so many obsess over these micro response times anyway. Unless it's 120Hz, which it doesn't say it is, it would be refreshing at 8ms like any other 60Hz display.

It's just a non-issue anymore for most monitors.

Much more important is the actual picture it can display. Color, contrast, sharpness, resolution, viewing angle, black point/white point, banding, and other picture quality related issues are often not given enough priority.
