Hey Internet, I got the Danger Den Nickel+Copper GTX 480 Full Cover Waterblock. it's simply stunning.

I'm hoping to get some info from everyone regarding WEIGHT of waterblocks. The weight of this thing is more than the entire card alone. I've mentioned this in other posts, but wanted to make a thread for some solid answers or suggestions. I'm pretty worried about it as I don't think it's safe to add to my system without some sort of support bracket. Any suggestions would be great! This thing is HEAVY

I have the HAF 932 case, so no Horizontal Mobo.. it will be upright. Here's a few pictures for everyone just to be nice. They are really crappy as I took them really fast with my cell phone cuz I'm to tired to get the DSLR out.

Thoughts?

it will be alright since the card is bolted to the case, the weight isn't at the pci-e slot
( i have a 4870X2 fc, and i think it's is heavier than 480 block )

Can't you get backplates that stop the gfx PCB from warping? I think EK offer some for their FC blocks.

So just use 2 screws and it should hold it up.. I think even it could break off the PCI-E bracket. lol. I'm just trippin cuz its my first GPU block and it's heavier than thought.

I guess the tubing coming down from my CPU will also help right

i found this at DD forums...check it out

The great news is these are one of our lightest full coverge blocks to date. At 2.5lbs they are lighter then the last handfull of blocks we've released. We did a lot of non-essential material removal.

Also, we've rarely had an issue with card bend. I've thought about creating some type of support system for those that want it. It is a fairly easy mod that anyone could do. But I'll see if we can come up with something...

i got the koolance for the 470 and i thought that 1.5lbs was heavy i cant think 2.5 :S

good luck

Should not be an issue. You are not going to ship it anywhere, aren't you?

Bracket will take some weight for you as well as tubing when you install the system. Even power cables can provide additional support with proper layout if you are concerned too much.

Thanks for all the info guys and the quotes from the DD site. I emailed them and got the same response. I was told the 4870x2, 5970, GT200 series were all heavier than this block and that I should be fine. haha. I guess I'll just set it up and see how it does. They said regular mounting should be fine. but I'll probably make the tube coming down from my CPU tight and have that help support the weight also, as long as it doesn't pull the tube out over time.

And yea Waterlogged, I took those better photo's last week when I got the block, and was to lazy to get the DSLR out last night at 1am to take photo's of the finished mounted block, those others are much nicer.
