Im seeing issues here testing. My gflops score is varying by up to 1.5gflops during the run. It looks very much like the multi dropping but it isnt. Overall gflops are down by 0.5 compared to P09 as well.

B2B is stable at every setting with no tweaks to voltage at all - however im seeing no speed bump from it, even with it at Auto (0T). Tested in Linx and SuperPi.

Anyone else got the same thing?

Bit more info - 6T setting does not give any variance in Link GFlops, any setting other than 6T does. Even when set at 6T performance is down by 0.5 to 0.7gflops consistently over P09.

3dmark Vantage: 122 points lower
SuperPi 1m : 0.142s slower
SuperPi32m : 3,837s slower

Just don't understand? Is something really broken here? It certainly doesn't look like B2B is working correctly for me.

[EDIT]
It seems to only be happening on odd numbered B2B settings. The bios is slow anyway, but performance doesnt vary if you use 6T/4T/2T. If I use 5T/3T/1T/0T I get wild variance in results. Sometimes performance is consitent but about 8Gflops down (57ish instead of 64.5 on G38 and 65.2 on P09), reboot and youre back to 63 to 64.5gflops.

I'm still testing but am adding what results I have so far below:

5 Runs+ Linx Gflops @ 4threads HT off 5120mb.

6T:
5T*: 63.3089 | 64.1183 | 63.7014 | 63.6682 | 64.3200
4T: 64.3195 | 64.5108 | 64.5654 | 64. 5668 | 64.6118 | 64.6196
3T: 64.3567 | 63.3779 | 63.4085 | 64.4112 | 64.5295 | 63.3990
2T: 64.4562 | 64.5092 | 64.5485 | 64.5672 | 64.4152 | 64.5690 | 64.5736 | 64.5745
1T:
0T:

* Initial run @ 5T gave 57.5102 | 57.7041, rebooted and re-tested, back above 63 again.

Heh.. Im using InteliBurn v2 (not sure if theres newer) and performace is based on 1) how stable it is 2) how much voltage is on vCORE. Its bit wierd, but its just like that.. Btw. what freq you runned that Linx? 4,2 GHz?

B2B can still be bit "beta", as its beta BIOS.. maybe Lord Trident knows sumthing.

all i know is b2b can be good for some memory and a nightmar for other

am told some memory may likearound 21 setting and yes that a lot higher then 6 lol

but not played so can not say much more

Well I finished my testing last night. I thought at first it was certain values of B2B but it turns out that if I just keep rebooting eventually I get consistent results in Linx. Its always stable, just performance varies wildly until you get that "stable" reboot. You can only see this in longer tests like linx, shorter tests dont seem to pick it up. Like I said before, the symptoms are very like a cpu multi drop for a few seconds. Adds about 2 seconds onto a linx loop.

I did notice after I flashed to G38 that some mobo stuff installed itself (pcie to pci bridge) and my gfx cards needed the driver reinstalling. However, when I flashed back to P09 it didnt reinstall anything. Flashed again to G38 - no reinstall. Looks like some microcode is updated that cant be written back. Anyway, the point behind this is now I get the same lower performance on P09 as I do on G38. Im down from 65.2 Gflops on P09 to 64.6 Gflops using the same bios profile I had before. Gutted. My max oc profile on P09 is also down on performance now some 130pts in vantage and 1.1Gflops in linx. Based on that decided to stay on G38 and try and figure out this B2B thing. Found out as well that going over 1.20 vioh on this bios causes me instability in windows. Very odd. Have used up to 1.28vioh before on other bioses.

On P09 B2B value shows as "disable" in cpu tweaker meaning its already at 3T or below. Also B2B timing would seem to be 1T+(Bios B2B value) = actual B2B. CPU tweaker reports 1 higher than bios set, but shows min reported value as 4, not 3.

That was at 4.4ghz Mesca - thats my 24/7 setting now. Been running 4.675ghz max oc for 3 months and im sick of heating my room up when im gaming. Gone from 23x203 10x mem @ 9-9-9-24 (+370/+360/1.72/1.18/1.134) and linx temps of 94c max to 23 x 191 10x mem @ 8-9-8-19-58-1T-6-14-3-3 (+250/+240/1.72/1.16) but linx max is now 71c, gaming temp is 59c. Down 25c give or take and ive lost little in the way of performance.

I really wish I'd never touched it though, I should've just been happy with P09 instead of getting greedy and wanting more. I'd say that'll teach me, but thats one lesson I never learn and a mistake I repeat regularly. Can't help but mess with things!

I had around 60 GFlops at 4GHz.. bit wierd you have only 65 at 4.4GHz. Not sure, but I think that your i7 doesnt like temps over 90°C more than my does (which mean it doesnt completely).

Full load in linx @ 4.4ghz 71c max 65c average across the 4 cores. Definitely not related to temps.

P09 does not do this, G36 and G38 do...

can you tell the bios engineers how to reproduce this drop in perf?
then it should be possible for them to fix it...

TBH Saaya I can't - all I can do is compare identical settings between bios versions and report what I find. Its definitely something under the skin as bios settings are 100% identical with not an auto value in sight.

Im using i7 950, 6gb Ballistix 1333mhz CL7, Falcon 64GB SSD, 2 x GTX260 SLI @ XFX XT bios and Xonar D2 PCI soundcard.

Maybe MRC code be change, just for added support 980x

hmmm i mean can you explain them how you run the benchmark/stability test :D
they have probably no idea how to use it and hence have no chance of reproducing your findings, which means they wont even try fixing it :D

if you can make a quick youtube clip or post some screenshots of how to run the test, how to get the numbers your seeing, then that should be something carl can forward to them and ask them to have a look at :)
