Someone gave me a demo of a Zalman 3D (stereoscopic) monitor recently. The quality varies marginally depending on viewing angle and distance, but when at the sweet spot it is really immersive. I wouldn't want to use 3D 24/7 but for the right occasion it is well worth it.
I only got to see 3D magnetic resonance images but the added detail compared to 2D was remarkable. Unfortunately time did not permit a demo of a 3D game, but I'm informed that it is well worth it.
I think I'll wait for 30" version to come on the market and when it does I will take the plunge.
