Dead Space

Alone In The Dark
Jericho
Prey
Fallout3
COD: Modern Warefare 2
Resident Evil 5

I'm a little behind on my gaming, I know

Fallout 3
Dead Space
Stalkers

Fallout 3 - easily 40+ hours (download mods and stuff first makes it much better - go here and winnow through the mods you think look interesting http://www.fallout3nexus.com/ but make sure you get marts mutant mod nd some faction rebalance mod)
Dead space - amazing gameplay/atmosphere - 10 - 15 hours (totally different than fo3 or stalker so a nice break)
Stalker - great gameplay/environment easily 30+ hours

Dead Space first

 Dead space it is first then I guess. Hopefully my combination of x-padder and my standard gamepad will work for Dead Space. Really don't want to mess around with DLL hacks to get my cursor keys back. (Can't stand that WSAD crap, keys are too close together for my liking)

closer together than the directions on a dpad?

Do you have Battlefield Bad Company 2?

Hello Ket. I guess after modding SHOC you might not want to fire up CS or COP yet as you will want to change a few things.
RE 5 might be a good diversion for awhile...I might get it myself or get it free
with a video card purchase. Fallout 3 you might like, but you'll hate some of
the ugly textures (fixed by mods mostly).
Cheers.

Dead Space
MW 2
Prey
RE 5

...in that order. Alone in the Dark 5, if that's the one you meant, is a pathetic excuse of a game btw.

The Stalker series is awesome, they have made a great atmosphere like the Half Life series has where it completely immerses you in the gameplay and you can pass a good few hours without realising. If you haven't played all of the Half Life games (first and second Half Life), I'd END there as it sets the benchmark for gaming and nothing quite feels worth playing again :p:

I think Half-life is majorly over rated.

Gordon doesn't exist as a character - hes just a silent person with a crowbar who does nothing really spectacular

The gameplay itself is horrible (gunplay that is [which is most of the fighting]), it takes most an smg clip to down an enemy
the gravity gun though makes the game worth playing

the only place the game stands out imo is that its able to effectively convey emotions of secondary characters and give an atmosphere of OH :banana::banana::banana: WHATS GOING ON most of it

If you really want an epic game

download Fakefactory mod 10 for half life 2

you get amazing visuals and much better gameplay

If Half Life was about the visuals nobody would be playing it anymore. Gordon shouldn't exist as a character, he's you.

Only games I'm considering playing is what I listed cos I already have them ;) I also hate halflife. I don't get why its so popular I think its crap and its not like I haven't tried to like it. Played halflife1, and its addons, and HL2.

Id do COD MW2 first as its only about 6hrs gameplay so will be out of the way quickly plus its a fun game.

Then it would be Dead Space as thats a fun game too

Fallout 3 would be last as its the longest and will keep u going 40+ hrs easily

...it takes most an smg clip to down an enemy
the gravity gun though makes the game worth playing... Personally I like HL 2 a lot. The shooting is a lot more effective if you aim for the head, but I have to admit I don't like the way they make weapons less effective as a way of ramping up difficulty as you progress to higher levels of it. It does however add to the alone against the Combine mood of the game, but It would be more effective were there not tons of ammo to use.

There's a lot more to the game than the shooting and gravity gun though. Well placed crow bar hits can get you through manhacks, headcrabs, and even zombies. Then there's antlions as weapons as you progress, and just running over critters with the vehicles is lots of fun. My fave way to play the ending of Episode 2 is to kill all the Hunters escorting the Striders via running them over with the car. Then of course there's explosives too, fire, zombie traps, all sorts of goodies in this game.

One of my pet peeves about the game is the brain dead squad AI you have to deal with. Sometimes I go out of my way to keep then penned up somewhere so they don't burst in and alert guards and get themselves killed.

Agreed, Dead Space is second. I was surprised by the length of the Dead Space campaign, its well worth it. Especially if you can get a deal on it. $11 Steam Holiday Sale ftw.... :D

Fallout3 is one of the best games I have ever played.

COD5 multilayer is a lot of fun. I liked Fallout 3 as well. If you're looking for a non-FPS game that will last you a long time, you really ought to try DotA or StarCraft. :o

Yeah, when i first got it i played all the new games.. for about 10 minutes. Then i went back to quake, with picmip 10, and now it just sits there making a lot of noise tbh. Still, at least it keeps my epeen at a respectable size

Try STALKER, all 3 of them, starting from SOC, to CS, and to COP. There's so many mods out there you can pretty much do anything in the game. For SOC, there's a mod called Oblivion Lost, and it's one of the best STALKER mods I've ever played.

I'm a stalker modder :p: Theres some great mods for SoC, but OL isn't one of them. Lost Alpha will be epic when its released, Stalker complete is another excellent mod, and then of course theres my mod linky (http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-twilight-ket-2zero) :D

Try CoP, it is a really good game. The main plot is rather thin, but if you keep that in mind and focus more on the side quests and exploring the zone you will not be disappointed.
You could also try CS with the OGSM mod. OGSM brings some of the feeling and atmosphere from SoC to CS.

I tried your mod, but it always caused my game to crash on startup (I tried it on winXP and win7. I tried reinstalling the game & patching the game). Unfortunately the game never got far enough to start writing messages to the log so I have got no idea why it crashes. Do you have any suggestions of how I could get the game to start? I would really like to try your mod.

If you have the retail version of SoC and not the :banana::banana::banana:ty steam version, just install SoC, patch to 1.0004, then install my mod and it'll fire up. Just be patient during inital loading as X-Ray in my mod is doing more things graphically than it was ever designed to do so on certain systems can take a couple mins to complete the inital loading process.

I do have the retail version of the game and I did use the 1.0004 patch.
The game really crashed, it didn't just take a very long time to load.

If you have never played the entire Stalker series, do it. I envy you for that. I wish that I could play them again without knowing what happens.

Dead Space, its ok... feels a bit laggy but its ok...
Prey, hmmm not really worth it imo...
Fallout3 takes a long time to get moving... feels incredibly laggy and sluggish... i never got to the point where it was fun, so i stopped playing after 2 days or so...

fear1 i heard was really cool... i played fear2 and liked it... you gotta play it with headset in the dark tho... yeah its that kind of a game :D

Try re-downloading from the link in my sig then. Your the first to say it crashes when loading so I can only guess the download got borked somehow.

I liked Prey. It was short, but it had some unique gameplay elements and a good storyline for a simple FPS.

My favorite is:

COD: Modern Warefare 2

:up::up::up:

Started playing this over the weekend, it's such a great experience, they kept everything that was great about the first game, well they kept the main thing which is how much of a delight it is to free run and make your own paths through the very well designed cities.

Has to be played with a Ps3 controller though, i'd go as far as to suggest to buy one for this game, you'll need a little program called Motion Joy to get it to work with pc games. Or a 360 pad at least, though that would be inferior for this game i've found, maybe that's down to preference, i played the original AC on ps3.

I also just noticed it's not on the OP's original list (along with alot of the other suggestions..) what a waste of time that was

i dont like the structure of ac2 i want to assassinate the bosses, i dont want to go and build up civil discourse then lead a riot i want to go and sneak into the rafters or blend in and get close then "bam zoom straight to the moon"

and whats wrong with the 360 controller and the pc on ac2 its already mapped and i played the 1st one with a mouse and keyboard and it worked out ok. i would rather use the ps3 controller but there are no pc drivers except for xp

Motion Joy i mentioned above will work on vista/7, i've been using them for a while, they're no fuss to set up (takes a few mins), but i think you do have to disable driver signature enforcement on x64. It even has an "xbox 360 emulator" for pre-mapped games, though i usually set stuff up myself as it takes about 30 seconds.

Again, I'm not buying any other damn games until I've completed the ones I already have, aka, the list.
