So basically I just got a new flat screen ad HT-in-a-box setup, its nice, and it does the job for now.

Now I have it hooked up simply with 1 hdmi cable going from the bluray to the tv, the sound works great with movies.

what i want tho is for the speakers to work with regular sd and hd tv programing, but im at a lost as of how to do that

First of all, do you have the capability to get your TV programming into your HTPC (or is this just a surround sound system in a box you are talking about)? That's step one, and if you answered no, you will need a tuner card to do that. If it's not PC related, then you need to get the TV audio to the receiver. Hopefully your TV has audio out in either the form of RCA jacks or something else.

And, I like your banner. Wouldn't it be vice versa? Stronger than someone else, and then being a strong (independently). You might want to rethink that one.

It's not pc related.
Its cable/tv related. So red/white audio jacks from tv to bluray (that powers speakers)?
Or red/white from tv/to cable box? or cable box to bluray?

As of right now it's like this:

HDMI connects TV to Bluray Home theater system that powers speakers and sub
Cable from wall to comcast cable box (SD for now) to TV

Run 1 HDMI from your cable or satellite box to the receiver.
Run 1 HDMI from your Blu-ray player to the receiver.

Then 1 HDMI out from the receiver to the TV.

Switch inputs on the receiver and leave the TV set to the HDMI input.

All you need.
