Hey guys. I've never water-cooled a GPU so this will be my first adventure into this.. I've always used some Shin Etsu x23 (the good stuff) that I got from CD a long time ago.

I'm wondering what is the best thermal paste these days as I've not changed in a while. ICD7, MX-3, OCZ Freeze? Also I've been told my Shin Etsu, and AS5 type stuff is conductive and should NOT be used on a GPU water-block as you might short something out. So whats the best thermal paste to use that is safe on a waterblock.
The DangerDen 480 install video they used Ceramique. Is that best for Blocks, or is that just preference?? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

MX-3 is pretty good for me, never had any problems with it or mx-2 and it seems to give better temps than AS5 and its safer as you said

MX-2 & 3 should be one of the best ones that is non-conductive.

So that Shin Etsu looks to be pretty good. Should I just use it then.

I bought it from Cyber Druid.. almost for sure it's the X23

How sure are you that Shin Etsu is NON conductive? I'm thinking about using the Shin Etsu on the GPU Core, and the Ceramique that comes with the DD block on the ram sinks..

It has to be both non conductive and non Capactive.

MX-3 MX-2 both are non-Capactive/Conductive.

so Shin Etsu is not Non-Capacitive?

I have Shin Etsu, MX-2, and AS5 here, and the Ceramique will come with the DD block.. I personally find my Shin cools better than mx-2 and I'd like to use the Shin on the GPU Core and the Ceramique on the Ram.. is this ok? or should I use the MX-2 to be safe

Thats a good question...
I can't find info on the Non-capacitiveness of Shin Etsu.

Hopefully one of the bigger Nerds of Watercooling will jump in.

Can Anyone Quickly help me out regarding this?

I'm about to tear apart my GTX 480 and add my DD block. I'd like to use the Shin Etsu on the GPU Core, and the included with the block AS Ceramique on the ram.. that should be ok right?

Hard question, the answer is even harder. You are going to watercool the beast, does that 3 degrees tops matter that much? Go safe, use Ceramique all around, it's non conductive and non capacitive, I've used it with great success on the CPU, GPU's and motherboard...

Electrically Conductive: No

i had more of a 10c diferance not 3

Are you sure it was the thermal compound? 10 degrees is not small, I would "blame" it more on the way the block was seated on the GPU...

Yah, the Shin Etsu is great stuff, I got some and it's worked wonders so far.
