D-Link router woes

I am perplexed as to why I cannot access my e-mail when I have my systems set up through my D-Link router. If I set the computers up on the modem alone, all is fine. Once I set them up through the router, I can surf the web just fine, but I cannot access my e-mail.....??? Anyone have any ideas? Is it the firewall conflicting with something? I suck at networking.

Yes, something is blocking the port your (assuming POP3??) email is using. Go into your router's console and allow that port. I forget which port email is, but I think it might be selectable o nthe newer routers (they list the common ports for common applications).
