Windows system event log shows:
display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered

while running 3DMark Vantage returns an error:
IDXGISwapChain::Present failed:: Device removed.(DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)

about 90% of the time. ONCE IN A WHILE it passed every 3DMark test, but when I re-run the test again just after it was completed it always fails so basically passing it is a fluke.

Most, if not all of the crash on 3DMark always occur on The 1st GFX test: Jane Nash thingy.

Now my suspicions here:
Is it ok for a single GFX card to be put on the 2nd PCIx slot?

Components used are:

RAM: Corsair triple channel kit 1866 with the fan
PSU: Enermax Revolution 85+ 1250

Sound blaster X-Fi Titanium on the bottom PCIx 3

Things I've already tried:
1. Memtest passed
2. downclock DDR to run at default 1333
3. setting the nvidia control panel to single GPU
4. turning off PhysX acceleration
5. using a different rail from the PSU
6. reinstall Win7
7. use older nvidia driver
8. use beta nvidia driver
9. fully updated win7
10. Fully passed Prime95
11. no problem running either Furmark or OCCT
12. updated directx with latest feb 2010 ver

I'm really confused here.
Is there any way to confirm whether I really need to get a new GFX board?
