With the recent release of the EVGA SR-2 I was wondering if anyone was working on a waterblock for the board. I think this thing is going to produce alot of heat. I would like to put this board in its own loop.

I think there will be post from EK (or some other manufacturer) when they have block for that beast. Afterall, being first is something to brag about in enthuasist community like this :D

My friend Emailed EK, they said they will have a block out ~3 weeks after release.

Can't wait to see a build with that board. That thing is intense.

You don't have to wait... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=246135

You just have to wait to build your own :)

Movieman is a lucky man. Thanks for that. I only wish I could build a comp with that.

A new car sounds a bit more appealing to me atm though. :ROTF: :D

Sorry for OT.

Do you know how much heat the MB chipset and components puts out?
Seems strange to me to put out waterblocks for such specific systems.
But these companies are still in business, so I guess they're putting out sufficient quantity to make it profitable.

It puts out a lot of heat. 5500 chipset, two NF200s, plus the ICH10 = lots of heat.

Yes, sorry if that was not clear enough in my previous post. :p:

I wonder how people's comps will look when cpu, video cards, ram and mobo are all under water...I can imagine it'll get pretty hard to see the mobo and components with all the tubes going everywhere

I have MB, GPU's and CPU currently under water. It is pretty cool and everyone asks about it. My friends then call me a nerd.

Not from what I'm seeing.
Not a lot of heat coming out of that fan setup on the board..
More coming off the video card at idle than from there..:D

Being first and getting it right are two totally separate things. Unfortunately, EK has a history of being first quite a few times but not getting the product right, just look at how many products get new revisions within 6 months if not a few weeks after release. I would much rather see a company spend more time to get the product right the first time than to be their beta tester and have to deal with unnecessary headaches.

Man that board is going to be sick, I wonder which parts of the board actually need to be w/c. then again someone might load it up with 4.5 ghz dual hexacores.

2 mosfets for cpu, 2 mosfets for ddr3, NB, SB, 2 nf200, might as well also do the usb3.0 controller....

you know what... here just take a look for yourself:

I think you guys arent gonna get a true full board block on this one tho, unless eddy uses some really funky bridges.
And if he does, then you guys are gonna risk block compatibility on side clearance, and so on.

I see how both VRM areas can be linked with a bridge, but the chipset area would have to get a separate block, a bridge to the VRM would block off cards on the 1st PCIe slot.. ? I am curious to see what the waterblock wizards will come with :)

I'm wondering what would happen with a big FC block and the board, when the board decides to bend a bit?

its very easy to make block for this board
easier than for p6t7 WS even

It will not be so soon as the availability is impossible and from EVGA is hard to get info...

I really want this board. Nothing worse than when the board and xeons aren't yet available here... and the waterblock is yet to exist!

For those intressed in this board
i am planning a project to build one of the fastest desktops in the world.
This board with 2x X5680 and 3x 480GTX all hand-picked will do the trick.
Ofcourse all watercooled with costum chiller.
But first i need conformation about the new EK blocks and sponsers :D
But that will be fine i think

Project with worklog here at XS starting +/- end of June, keep tuned!

my desktop right now would classify as one of the fastest 24/7 running, in the world.

(Not to derail thread)
If by fastest you don't just mean the CPU, why not 5970s over the 480s given the former are already faster and actually have headroom for OC'ing?

In for the ride, pretty sure ek will come up with something awesome.

@bernd:1) you left out the most important subsystem imo: storage. 2) sponsors shmonsors :p if you build a monster and it lacks awesome storage I may just build my own with sexy storage just to knock you down a notch :D

competition is fun!

(op sorry to add to the hijack)

I'm really hoping that EK does end up making a block for this board.

Especially one similar to the red acrylic one for the 4-way classified:
