my long search for a nice IPS monitor has finally come to a close (I hope)

the final two candidates are the NEC EA231WMi BK and the HP LP2475w.

My main uses are internet surfing and gaming, from what I've read although overall the NEC is the best, it suffers in gaming.

So, which one should I get? I will also take ideas, and just a note, I thought about the u2410 however I can get these two for a bit cheaper so unless it is considerably better than both I'd rather not go for it.

Bummer, the U2410 was on sale last week. I bought one (in Canada) for $419. I actually just got it on monday and I COULD NOT be happier, seriously the difference is so big that it's hilarious how I never noticed how bad my old 22" Acer was.

Anyway... this site helped me a lot to decide on the U2410. I was afraid that it would be bad for gaming but it isn't, most of the TN displays out there advertising low ms response times are never accurate.

If you still have to decide between the NEC and the HP displays, here's a direct link for a complete comparison. Enjoy and I hope you choose wisely :D

they all suck, but 23" monitors have smaller pixel pitch, so I'd go with 23". I'm waiting probably at least 6 months or more... bummer.

no they don't, today's 23" monitors are just cut down 16:10 24" panels.

That's not true. Look at some specs. It depends on the panel.

True, the specs never lie...

That's not what was being implied. Dot pitch is different between many 21.5" monitors, as well as any other size. They don't "cut-down" panels from 24" to 23", as can be noted by the generally tighter dot pitch, yet same resolution as a 24" on a 23".

Mate, I saw the review of this NEC and it's :banana::banana::banana: for gaming with it's 14ms reaction...
I'm very dissapointed since it has displayport in it, it's IPS and it's NEC so i wanted to buy 3 and stick them into eyefinity group... but in the review I saw (polish site) they said it's :banana::banana::banana: for fast games like q3, cs:s and bf bc2..
I need to look for other one :/
