I just realized that my GTX 240 rad has started leaking.....So, I have to get a new rad. I decided that I was going to replace my GTX 480 also and get either the rx480 or the sr1-480. I can't decide and it's driving me crazy!!! Help!!!

For 360s XSPC and SR1 break even at about 800rpm. I expect this to apply to 480s as they're the same design.
Depends on which fans you're using. Higher than 800rpm, XSPC. Lower, then SR1.

I want to use 1450 rpm gentle typhoons unless the gT 1850 are quieter than my zalman fans.....
The performance will be about the same, difference is SR1 uses metric screws (M3 as opposed to 6-32 screws for the RX), has an integrated shroud opposite to barbs, and has a larger shroud on the sides (can cause problems if space is tight).

I have 9 1850's and I have to say I can't hear them at all over my Ultra X3s fan while sitting about 1 foot away. It may be a bit louder than than other psu fans but either way I still have to put my ear within about 4 inches to notice them.

Well, that sounds good!! I just hope they are quieter than my 1800rpm zalman zm-3's!

Well if they aren't, a fan controller would be an easy fix. Also, I can record them with the psu fan off a bit later if you want.

ETA 15mins link in a pm :D
your mileage may vary, depending on your hearing it seems... I can definitely spot a 1400rpm GT (mounted on a XSPC RX360) about 2 meters away, and i hear it clearly over my Corsair HX850 PSU.

Different psus, different fans in them, I have 6 externally powered and once the psu goes on, their sound is completely drowned out. However, like I said earlier, it is louder than others and I have no idea how his psus sound level compares to it.

with 1800 rpm fans you are probably better off with a GTX o_O
SR1/RX/PA etc low FPI rads are made for low rpm fans
