I am looking to change my rad to a new one but what is the best make or model of 240mm rad i can buy?
I currently have a blackice 240mm but I don't like the way the fins are so close.
Thanks.

Well, for low speed fans xspc rx240 or Black ice sr1 240. these have a low fpi, 9 and 8!

Swiftech rad dont have big fpi count also and are quite slim so you could have space to use a push-pull setup.

I have an xspc rx360 and it has a low fpi, but is very thick. Its great for low speed fans and those with sensitive ears. rx240 should be the same.

What fans do you plan on using?

Depends on the fans you planning on using. Your blackice is actually better then the other rads, just that you need high speed fans to see the performance.

I an using noctua P12's at the moment.
I think they are pulling enough air through the rad.
Am I right?

There are many black ice that sized 240mm :D, BI Pro, Xtreme, GTS, and GTX. What is yours ?

My Feser 240 cooled 2x GTX 295s when i strapped a pair of Ultra Kaze 3k RPM fans to it. Temps never exceeded 53c on any of the 4 cores while Overclocked to 700/1100

Apologies for not being more specific, it's a GTX extreme.
One problem I have is that the ultra kaze 3000 fans do not fit.
They are 38mm thick and are hitting the memory sticks on my evga classified as my rad is installed on the top of my cosmos s case.
Do I need to go with a fan with a high CFM?
Edit: what do you think of the scythe jyuni 1900rpm?
They produce over 100cfm?

You will see more benefit with that rad if you do.

The BlackIce GTX 240 will outperforms all other 240 rad if placed on top (and outside) of your case, with 4*Ultra Kaze push-pull (use a fan controller if you're not deaf :D), tried the GTX 240 once with 4*SanAce 38mm fans and it was awesome, 4-5°C lower than the NeXXXos Extreme 240 with 2 fans.

My problem must be the noctua P12 fans.
They must not be pulling enough air through the fins.
I have ordered 2 scythe jyuni 1900 fans that claim to pull over 100cfm.
Hopefully they will do the trick and maybe pull more cool air into the case too as they sit right above my GTX295.
Thanks for the advice.

Slipstreams are not very good on rads, in fact, they may be worse than your Noctua's. You need raw static pressure power, not massive CFM's.

I like thermochill. But you can just look at http://skinneelabs.com/triplesv2.html?page=1 to get an idea of the radiators. And gentle typhoons are top notch radiator fans.

What gentle typhoons do you recommend?
Also, would they perform better than the noctua's?
Thanks.

I have bI GTX480 and 240 and I was using the zalman zmf-3, but now I am going to get the 1850 rpm gentle typhoons....

You already have the best rad for the fan speed you're looking at.

Id run 1850'rpm gentle typhoons at around 800-1000rpms for quietness, but I use 2 thermochill radiators. I prefer ultra quiet over a few more degrees off my load temps.

what is the best fans use with swiftech mcr220 rad?

You could get a TFC 240 and a push-pull on the rad.

There is no best. The MCR rads have medium FPI and work well with high speed 2000 RPM fans undervolted. In a high heatload situation, then you need more fannage. You have a low heatload, the 1200 RPM fans are fine.

It's all about your needs and tolerance to noise.

There is no best fans for a rad unless you know

Heatload
Noise tolerance

I have just received my gentle typhoons 1850rpm but what worries me is the central bearing.
It is quite large and would this not affect the air pushing through the rad?
I imagine they would work better with a shroud although I don't have the space tp attach a shroud.
Would I be better hust sticking with my noctua P12's?
Thanks.

Gentle Typhoon eat all Noctuas for breakfast.

The Black Ice GT Stealth is thinner than the GTX, but has a higher fin count. Its tubes are also very thin. While this can cut on your flow rate, it allows a higher surface area for your water to be cooled.

Great, just installed the gentle typhoons and my corei7 920 at 3.6ghz never goes over 40c.
Also installed an enermax magma as an exhaust on my cosmo s and it's pulling out great air.
The GT's really are much better than the noctuas.
