Is ek 5870 acrylic top fragile?

Hi guys, i need a top for my shappire 5870 and i really like ek acrylic/nickel version with nickel backplate.

Is the acrylic top kind of fragile? anyone have a broken one? or some cracks in the threads?

The top will not break unless you drop it on the floor or if you use waterchiller, this might hurt the top.

I will use a normal wc setup, nothing strange :p


Some compressions, sli fittings, stop fittings, destiled water with silver coil.

I haven't had any problems with my acrylic tops over the years. Just don't torque down the screws too much if you have to replace the top.

I've owned a number of EK fullcover blocks and i've never had a problem with the acrylic tops.

Will contact with Isopropyl Alcohol damage the Acrylic part ?

Isopropyl alcohol attacks acrylic as it tends to promote crazing in acrylic, as it does in many transparent plastics. Many acrylic grades are more alcohol-resistant than others.

Acrylic has many quality grades...some deform (cracks etc.) due to contact with IA, but i'm asking specific for EK-used acrylic...Thank you for your reply anyway(though i couldn't make the link work ).
