Cebit: Sapphire Announces 4 GB HD 5970 and Eyefinity 6 Edition
Currently holding the crown for the fastest graphics card available is the HD 5970. SAPPHIRE will introduce at the show a new 4GB version of the SAPPHIRE HD 5970 with a special cooling solution and higher clock speeds that will blow previous versions out of the water! .........

unless the 5xxx series is getting a fairly large price cut I can't see this selling very well.

I wouldn't be surprised, ASUS MARS isn't supposed to be the only card of that kind AFAIK.
This is very little info, though...

Looks interesting, can't wait to see more information, and I expect this card to have a good cooling solution as well if Sapphire is going to bump up the clocks.

Hmmm might be fun if you only want 1 card. I'd rather just get the 2gb 5870's though. Unless the 4b 5970 is much less expensive than two of the 2gb 5870's.

4 x 5850's looking pretty good right about now.

Why? 2 5870's would use more power and would have less total available VRAM to use. Not even mentioning 2 5870's would likely be more expensive.

We bet that the folks at AMD thought long and hard as to how they could scupper NVIDIA plans for its forthcoming GeForce GTX 480 GPU. Nothing like upstaging your competitor's best efforts, eh!

Probably conceding that Fermi will be faster than the Radeon HD 5870 and may give the twin-GPU Radeon HD 5970 a run for its money, AMD will be trying to trump NVIDIA's launch by releasing the Radeon HD 5970 4GB model.......

Sweet, bring on the 4GB HD5970 monsters. $1000 though is steep... maybe I'll get lucky and glimpse one in passing :(

Any word on pricing of this or the ASUS beast?

I would have expected the card to look better, it looks quite generic and dull to be honest. And I'm not liking the look of ASUS's ARES card either.

The ASUS one looks a lot nicer, this one is rather dull and ugly for something so expensive and custom designed.

Eh... do you guys like stare at your graphics cards while you're gaming or something? :p

This thing should drop in price once fermi comes out as well... unless fermi ends up being more expensive :\

Sapphire is one thousand US dollars :)

Holy cow that is expensive. I would rather get the asus if they were both the same price(although the asus is more dangerous to move around), for a grand, it better feel like a card worth a grand. This sapphire looks like a regular card, with extra cooling. From what I have seen 2 extra gigs of ddr5 to not make a 400 dollar price jump. After fermi comes out and hopefully causes a price drop, I would rather get tri Fire 5870 for the same price.
