Have a couple of these sitting around and wondering how much damage they are doing on todays WU's.

I believe they'll do 5-6k ppd... But that's just iirc, I could be completely off.

Hopefully someone can chime in with something more concrete!

gx2 should do about 18-20k 24/7 with no errors. it's basically like running 2 9800gtx's or 2 gts250's... and my dual gts250 machine does about 20k a day when it's error free.

just guessing though. a gx2 is 2 cores 128sp's each. a gts250/9800gtx is a single core 128sp card.

Just curious cause I have 3 right now and don't plan on folding till next winter. I was wondering if it would be better to sell these now and buy something newer next winter or hold on to them.

Haha, my bad... read WAY to fast. Didn't see the x2... and still off after that. :rolleyes:
(don't the 8800's do 6k ppd...?)

Anyway... I think this depends on how fermi turns out. If it is a beast in points, it might be better to have one of them, but if that's not the case, these compare quite well to gtx 2 series in points.

And now that I think of it... You might be better to sell them and get new next year. Electric costs will make it cheaper to fold with the new stuff... Just my opinion. :cool:

Edit: ahh... forgot the recent 60% boost!

Yeah the whole reason I am waiting till winter is because folding hardware emits heat which interns cuts down the cost of heating a home. Unlike the summer where you make for electricity to power machines and then pay extra to AC your home. Found out a interesting fact yesterday though 1000W heats up 400sqft which is funny cause my old machine with 3x9800gx2's was a little bit over 1000 and used to heat my bedroom :)

plus those gx2's are some hot bastiges! I had one and had to keep the fan at near 100% to stay under 95c on both cores folding fah. I never ran it on gpugrid, but fortunately gpugrid doesn't run as hot as fah from my experience. i never ran the gx2 on the grid, so you'll have to try it and let us know. they should come close to my dual gts250 box though.. maybe a little lower depending on clocks and wu's etc...

Okay well since it is still winter here an about 30/40's here and still need to heat the house...someone give me a link to how to setup and run gpugrid with 3x9800gx2's:party:

EDIT: Trying to download the cuda drivers but I run win7 and all I see is xp/vista, any ideas?

Just get the regular graphic card update from nvidia, it should work right after.

I did this already I still only have one task at this time. Aren't I suppose to have 6 if I'm running 3 cards or does it blend it?

Try this:

I had to edit the cc_config.xml file (or create it) in the c:/programdata/boinc folder and put in a few lines like this:

<cc_config>
<options>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
</options>
</cc_config>

And go to Advanced -> Read Config file.

The difference here is once it is working it usually just works. A bad WU ever once in awhile but this project is not nearly as cranky as F@H.

I thought 4-way sli is the max one can do with the current drivers.
I'm maybe wrong, can anyone confirm?

4-way is the max, but if you run them independently the only limiting factor is pci slots. Well this OS is so scrambled time for a fresh install. See ya guys in a couple hours.
