Does anyone know how to fix this? I have one of the old 40GB models of the ps3 and it has stopped reading Bluray disks today. Everything else will work just not blu ray.

the blu ray laser probibly has some dust on it

but i don's know how you would get dust out of the ps3 dvd drive(as it eats the disks :D)

This is a common issue and most likely the BR drive is toast. Mine went 4 weeks after I bought it (original 40gb) and when I researching the issue it seemed pretty wide spread.

Ya there was a bad batch of 40GB that had blu-ray lasers that would die fast.

If it is out of waranty you can fix it yourself i believe.

Yeah, it's really easy to fix the drive if you know which model you have...you can just change the lens part....

The entire system is covered by a three year warranty in the EU be the retailer. Its just a pita in trying to get them to honor it some cases.
