I was wondering if steel screws could be safely used in an aluminum case.

In the presence of humidity and/or even worse salt, galvanic corrosion will occur and rather rapidly. But what about indoors, in a computer case?

Any one had bad experiences with steel screws in an aluminum case?

I ask because I cannot find (in Europe) stainless steel black screws only regular steel.

what size screws are you looking for. You could get some nuts and bolts from a hobby store. RC trucks and cars usually use stainless steel

I need M3 6mm and M3 8mm black stainless screws in Europe.

However according to a few people I spoke to, steel screws on aluminium shouldn't be a problem indoors.

So unless someone had problems with regular steel screws in an aluminum case, I'll go ahead and use them.

I have never had any issues using steel fasteners in aluminum, I am in the transportation industry and from experience with both surfaces being primed it takes about three years for the corrosion to become critical, this is outside moving up and down highways, so I would assume that indoors shouldnt ever be a issue:shrug:

Yes that's what I thought.

Thanks for the info
