So I want to spend around 400 or so for a nice 24" monitor. However the market has changed a lot since I last bought a monitor, and I'm not too sure which is good or not? I wanted something that doesn't have high response time/input lag for gaming and nice color reproduction for movies and other things. What choices are there? The HP 24"?

If you catch a sale or call in as a small business you can pick up a Dell U2410 for $500. It bit more than you wanted to spend but it's worth it being an IPS monitor

I have a Benq FP241w, I think its a MVA panel. It's a fantastic screen, few years old now but still performs very good. I believe they have the FP241WZ screen which is IPS based and performs quite well too.

However I have heard some nightmare reviews of their technical support since purchasing mine.

Have a nice day

Philips 240PW9EB (H-IPS) is great (I use it)

After seeing my mates Samsung I don't think I would ever purchase one, I just find them a little cheap and I think it shows in the quality of the picture. Does anyone use www.trustedreview.com? Are they a reliable source? They have a nice HP screen rated 9/10: http://www.trustedreviews.com/monitors/review/2009/03/27/HP-LP2475w---24in-H-IPS-Display/p1

HP-LP2475w vs Dell U2410, more people will pick the Dell. I'm kinda biased but the Dell is a great screen and looks better

I use Trsuted Reviews. They're a great source because they review all kinds of tech and gadgets and I value their opinion on things like SatNav etc. but I don't find their screen and audio reviews are in-depth enough.

They have the Dell U2410 review (http://www.trustedreviews.com/monitors/review/2010/02/02/Dell-UltraSharp-U2410-24in-Monitor/p4) up today.

TFT Central (http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews.htm) give more in-depth TFT reviews, but perhaps a little too in-depth sometimes! They do rate have a section of every review dedicated to how it performs in office tasks, photo editing, gaming etc. so just pick the section that applies most to you and read.

If you can cope with less vertical pixels seriously consider the 23" NEC EA231WMi (http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/nec_ea231wmi.htm). A fantastic screen and VERY affordable!

HP have the ZR24w coming soon - watch out for it.

Prad (http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/reviews.html) are another source for great monitor reviews.

If you call in as a small business *wink wink* they'll give some kinda discount or throw something in for free. Don't try this when they're already on sale, you'll just get a no.

I can't wait until the new U2711 is out, I'm thinking of selling my U2410 to buy one

Same here, and it was very expensive at the time...but best there was.

I'm really hesitant to replace it. For all I'm concerned, if I did a lot of gaming on this rig I'd just get a 42" Panasonic Plasma...they are going for around $900 new. I'm not impressed with most LCDs or the high prices of the "good" ones that still don't beat the Plasmas.

Also, there service is EXCELLENT. I found a little too much back light bleeding although still better than any TN based panel. I called them Tuesday to return it. They rush shipped me a new one and I had my replacement on Friday.

If you're unhappy with anything, and I mean anything even a scratch in the base or 1 dead pixel they'll send you a new one. Of course free of charge

I know you don't want a TN but from first reviews the acer s243hl seems to be an extremely good monitor, especially for the price.
