Some people managed to get TRIM working on the Kingston 40gb SSD with the intel controller. Use these instructions at your own risk! Enjoy!

Good to have as a backup if Kingston never comes through...

I just did it ! Everything looks ok. No data loss. Kingston said that they won't release a firmware with trim support, since intel doesn't let them. For this reason they phased out the drive and replaced it with a 30gb one, with toshiba controller.

Really? Most of the net has been operating on some quote from a PR guy that they had one in their roadmap. They've changed positions on this now?

Done it to my drive and it's still working^^ phew...
From another post on those forums, it seems Kingston has stopped selling these 40gb intel SSDs.

This will be a good project during the weekend when I don't suppose I'll be playing nearly as much Battlefield Bad Company 2 as I thought I would... :|

Just finished the process on my drive. It takes 2 blank CDs and about 10 minutes and that is that. Hooray for TRIM support.

You can still find them for not much more.

How do these work for just an OS drive? Stutter and all that from the cheaper drives?

Stutter with intel controller ? Don't think so. ;)

They work like the best upgrade you can do to any system.
