The installation manual (pdf here (http://81.90.180.2/ekwaterblocks/shop/EK-IM/EK-IM-3830046990198.pdf)) shows a "good" and a "bad" orientation. But is it relative to the socket lever ?
I'm installing it over an i7, socket 1366 (EVGA X58 Classified). On that motherboard the socket lever is vertical if the motherboard is mounted upright (normal ATX position). So should the barbs (and flow direction) come across the lever, or be parallel to it ?
Or is it just that we should not have the exit barb pointing down ?

Almost non-related question. My EK Classified X58 full cover has several little M3 screws to attach it, but the screw heads come in direct contact with the PCB, since there are no nylon or paper washers with it. Is it ok ? (i didnt see if there was any PCB trace around the screw holes)

You can mount it like you want dependent on your setup. I guess the best performance (approx. 0,5° on cores difference ^^) you will get with the barbs horizontal (ATX standard setup) ...

The direct contact of screws and board is absolutely normal and OK. The washers are not necessary ...

I mounted mine on a I7 with the Supreme towards back of mobo. Borrowed a pic, mine is mounted like this. And works great.

Thanks for the replies

I suppose it "works" in both orientations, but due to the flow (and baseplate) being very directional on this block, i supposed there was a way that would offer a better cover for multicore CPUs such as the i7, so probably different performance depending on block orientation.
