You know how some people gut out cheap fans and use just the housing
as a shroud and attach it to a complete fan to cut down on the dead spot
for better airflow over a radiator?
How about making a fan that has an extended housing say 20 to 25mm?
I am currently working on a new build and am going to use 3 cheap scythe 120mmx20mm (gutted out) as shrouds.
Ideas, thoughts?
Maybe something like a 38mm fan but with a 25mm fan blade offset to one side?

Probably wouldnt be worth doing because it would increase production costs.

it would be faster if you just get some longer screws and a tape duct

Obviously it would increase production costs, but that would be offset by a higher price. So the production cost argument is bogus. Now, if you were going to set about to manufacture fans with a "built-in" shroud, I would go with a 50mm housing and a 25mm fan offset to one side, so that you have a full 25mm shroud. That might be something, but who knows if anybody would buy it? And who will manufacture these crazy new fans for you is another question. But you probably can find somebody in China, they seem to make everything nowadays. All you need is a CAD drawing and some start up capital.

Fester's Triebwerk (or however you fricken spell it) fans use a 55mm thick frame and use an incorporated shroud. Problem is, they attacked them problem with the wrong answer in mind, pure silence. Martinm210 showed that when mounted on a rad, they work like crap. Now if Scythe was to make a 2200+ RPM GT version like that. . .:slobber:
