HP Notebook Screen Ripples

Im working on a HP Notebook that from startup the screen has a pretty crazy ripple (almost like shimmering) and I am trying to figure out what it is.

My current idea is that the ribbon may not be connected fully or something is causing it to malfunction.

I am posting this to get some other ideas before I delve into the machine and pull it apart to fix it (trying to avoid this but may have to)

P.S. The warranty has expired so im kinda SOL there.

after pulling the diagram for the laptop and found where the connectors are I applied some pressure to it and the flickering stopped so im assuming now that its just the cables.

(also posting this here because google didnt turn up anything so, I figured this would make a great reference for someone thats having this same issue)
