I recently purchased an Abit AN7 to replace my Abit NF7-S V1.2. I have 2 sticks of 512mb TwinMOS PC3200 that have Winbond BH-5 memory chips. With this RAM my NF7-S V1.2 was perfectly stable at 200MHz FSB with timings of 6,2,2,2 @ 2.8v. In the AN7 it does not matter what settings I use, I just cannot get the board stable at 200MHz with this RAM.

When I put my 512mb stick of Crucial PC3200 in everything is ok.

Is there a known incompatibility between the AN7 and memory with Winbond BH-5 chips?

Will a new BIOS fix this, and soon? I really like this board and don't want to have to send it back because "Abit fail to deliver a BIOS fix".

Walrus explained his situation in another thread and his board/ram combo behave exactly as mine does. Basically the same ram (mine's HyperX3500 but-> BH5) and the old NF7S v1.2 did 200@(2-2-2-6) fine. In the AN7 best to leave it at 167 and use multi because just cant handle even 190ish with these Ram sticks. Just seconding his findings. Should be duplicated in a lab fairly easily that it at least dislikes the sticks. Pretty sure same issue was on the NF7S v2.0 until a bios fix. Hopefully An7 owner's will get one.

I also use Twinmos PC3200 with bh-5 chips and have no problems running in 5-2-2-2.0@200fsb. I can actually run those specs up to 214fsb.
