Hi,
Im considering a gpu only loop for my second PC, will be for general use but also for benching,
I was wondering, what components would people recommend?
I mean, would I need a 360 rad if its just a gpu loop?
And pumpwise I presume I wouldnt need a particularly powerful one.

Something like that would be adequate no?
I will be using a gpu core block with memory heatsinks, Im also wondering which block would be best? Both in terms of compatibility and performance?
Any suggestions would be great
Thanks

I personally run a triple 120 radiator for my gpu loop, but I'm also running 2 cards that are voltmodded and o/c'd with full cover blocks. For just one card, and a gpu-only block, you really don't need a dedicated loop.

But im not running the cpu under water, its just for benching really, cpu will be under SS,
Im still tempted to do it as ive got watercooling fever at the moment with doing my main rig :P

i bench for team.xs

i prefer bigger rads...with my mora2...the water temp probably didn't even rise by 1c :D

i have a 1x120mm rad ....its also good..

if you're benching that 9800...thats more or less 100w..with a 1x120mm ...it should work ok...it won't warm up the water too much..

whats the gpu?

Rule of thumb (IMHO), you need a minimum of 1 120mm rad per CPU or GPU. Anything more wont hurt if you have the money.

IMOHO (my other humble opinion) watercooling your CPU will yield much better results. Watercooling the GPU doesnt help to much these days. I got my G92's underwater and the max I could get them is 900 core and 2300 shader. Didnt see much increase in performance. About to have 3 voltmodded to see how that works out.

If you're only running a single card, a single 120 will be more than adequate.

I would have to agree with most, i have 2 8800GT,s and a CPU on one 220 radiator, single loop.
The GPU,s are folding all the time and the radiator is not even warm to the touch.

Its been below 10f in my neck of the woods lately and i was hoping they would warm
up my room a little, but so far its still colder than a witches tit in a brass bra.

The card will vary, 9800GTX+, 4850, 9500GT, possibly 9800GX2, possibly 8800GTS 512, depends...
Hmm, would a switech 320 and a black ice 80mm rad be enough for mmy 9800GX2 and 720BE?
Because I could then transfer my 120.1 to be for gpus in the other comp...
Any of the blocks particularly good compatibilty and performance wise?
Will also possibly try out an ice bath idea with it having seen some fairly positive results,
Thanks

Hmm, A thick 120.1 rad will do the job, I myself is running my HD4870 with Fullcover, nb, mosfet 1 + 2 in one loop on a XSPC RX120 with push pull fans, the rad feels warm but 'it's doable ;)

I don't really mind, 'cause it's temorary 'ntill I have a ek coolstream xt 120 to add in that loop :)

I may not bother, as I may look into getting a cpu pot, and then mod the mount for my SS to be able to fit gpus aswell as cpu.
Then I can test cpu on SS, and card on air, then bench with cpu on Dice, and card on SS

I wouldn't even use the 80mm rad. It's restrictive, old, and adds very little to the total cooling of the loop. that said, if you have enough flow, having the 80mm in the loop with long hoses for dropping the rad in chilled liquid when you want to would be nice. IF you have good enough flow though.

Probably should have read that a bit closer...

If you are looking for an easy card to overclock, the G92+ has been very easy for myself. For some reason users seem to hit a wall at around 900 core, however its not a heat issue. I think there might be some overvolt protection you need to mod to get higher. These GPUs are also very robust. Ive punished my two cards for more than a year with +1.5V to the GPU.

For block compatability, the MCW60 fits all the G92 cards with original plate, and pretty much every other card on the market with the purchase of a specific mounting plate.

Well,
How things have changed
I discovered cheap dry ice
So now have bought a pot, and will try to mod my SS for gpus.
So I wont be having a gpu loop, as it would have probably cost more than the pot :P
