"AMD WAS SHOWING off two new platforms today at CES, Danube and Dorado. Danube is the mobile quad-core and Dorado is the 8xx next generation DX11 IGP."

Well i hope the quad mobiles come soon, more performance than a i3 but not enough to beat a i7M "Not sure that it can beat i5M tough "

Hmm nice. So 890X/FX chipsets will come around CeBIT time, March? I was about ready to get I5 750 + P55, but I might wait until Phenom II 6-core + 890X now :yepp:

Later. May or June 2010 was the word in November. Hopefully they'll move this forward like they did Thuban.

techpowerup says it is a DX10.1 IGP

Hope they are wrong...

Its not like any directx 11 games will be particularly that playable with IGP anyway.

wut, you mean like "boom" in exploded batteries... cnr. :ROTF:

anyway, what counts for me is how much more battery life they can get with ~ same performacne of a C2D with more battery life = win :)

Dx11? Why not since it's free... Might have a better performance over Dx10 parts due to some optimisations.

but these IGPs will be able to accelerate applications that'll take advantage of dx11 compute shaders :)

oooo see this is what i was referring to! i really hope the market does not have to wait too long for these products? i think amds main problems with mobile; is the lack of skus? i mean they only have 8-10 different mobile cpu's, where as intel has 20+ different cpu's. end of first half? does this mean end of January-February?

It was shown running Dirt2 in DX11...
So yes, techpowerup is wrong.

daymn! dirt2 in dx11? then perf must be pretty damn good...
just when intel managed to reach the same igp perf amd and nvidia introduced 1-2 years ago, they get pushed back again... well, for a few months they will have a competetive igp solution, thats still a big improvement :D

*SIGH* People don't even glance over the articles linked anymore...

That brings us to Dorado, the real next generation integrated graphics chipset. We showed you the Asus version earlier today, but this is the official release. As you can see, it is running Dirt 2 is DX11 mode, so that kind of settles the argument about what graphics modes are supported by the upcoming 8-series chipsets.

I saw the article, but I'm probably missing something..how can I be sure that it is running at DX11 mode? Dirt2 have very few differences at DX11, and when runing at DX11 mode this is a veeeery demanding game, would be very hard for a IGP to run it at acceptable frames.

Because an employee told Charlie? Maybe it is displayed somewhere at the demo? Maybe Charlie went into the options?
Clearly, for some reason, Charlie is under the impression that it is running in DX11.

Reading semiaccurate.com articles always makes me wonder what part of article is "accurate".

"semi" in site name comes from semiconductor! As you might have noticed he deals mostly with products of semitech - CPUs, GPUs and Chipsets ;)
