I second that, it works great (and I am currently using the LGA775 mounting holes with my Switftech GTZ:))

It took a little work to get it 100% stabilized at 4.2 ghz, but that was primarily user error (hey it was my first time overclocking an i7).

So on the Rampage II Gene the cpu mounting kit for a s775 TRUE will fit the Gene? As in I don't have to order the 1366 mounting kit?

^^ you should not have any issues with it.. Maybe you need to add some plastic or rubber washers to the true backplate.

I think someone in this thread is using a socket 775 mount

I wouldn't limit your motherboard choice to which ones have 775 mounting holes. 1366 mounting kits cost very little, and they're available now from basically every manufacturer. I don't understand the reason motherboard manufacturers even put 775 mounting holes in at all and compromise the structural integrity of the board especially in such a trace dense area. If you move up to a whole new platform surely you can afford a mounting bracket.

My TR Ultima 90 would not fit because of the components surrounding the socket holes. The vast majority of S775 heat sinks won't fit because of this. Performance-PC's has the 1366 bracket kit for like 12 bucks.

If your ultima retention mechanism is like this>

then is quite understandable why doesnt fit, however with True s775 retention should be pretty straightforward.

There were alot of TRUE mounting bracket revisions. The X bracket style should work, but some TRUE's came with my style bracket (one you posted pictures to
