Hey guys...

I just bought a Mountain Mods case with tinted acrylic window. I think I will like the tinted acrylic because not EVERY little thing will be showing. However, I still want a certain amount of bling and wow when appropriate.

So my question revolves around lighting for tinted windows? Would UV be the best with UV reactive water/tubing? Or would white CCFLs with work better? I have no idea what color combo I want to go with at this point, but I would like to square up the lighting situation...

why not try both? pretty cheap, can pick up 2 tubes of each for about 40 bucks.

but all in all it really has to do with the colour scheme of your components, if there is any. If you have a computer where the components are colour coordinated, then best use a white CCFL, if its just components with no colour coordination, then highlight peices with uv reactive material and grab some UV lights.

I've seen the white CCFLs work better on tinted acrylics more often than not. Some tints don't allow much UV reflection through at all. Matter of fact, while white (plain) is the easiest to get through, green and red are the next easiest.

Worse case scenario, take the panel down to a PC store and try out their lights. :) *wink*

Do you remember any picture examples of white ccfls in tinted acyrlic?

The only example of tinted acrylic I have seen is this here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3999099&postcount=4

I've replaced the window panel in my 800D with a tinted perspex. This is isn't the best shot but is with the tinted panel in it:

I've used 4 of the 10cm white cathodes to put the light where I want it, it was far too bright with the 30cm cathodes installed.

The tinted perspex does give a very nice clean look tho :)

White LED strips

White LED is always good because it simply supports the true colors inside. Go for around 6000k to 6500k color temperature. ... imo
