Has anyone tried the Abit SR7-8x yet?
It has the SiS 648 chipset, which is supposed to perform
better than the i845d/e/g........
It allows up to 255 fsb, and has fixed pci/agp settings....
I believe it allows for up to 2.9vdimm also
And also, it supports AGP 8x for the R9700 :)
It has an assload of mem ratios including:
3:4
4:5
2:3
2:5
3:5
5:6
1:2
1:3
etc etc.....
that means if you ran it at 133 fsb stock on a 2.26b, you could
enable the 2:3 mem ratio and get 400 ddr...
also, it has an option for cas 3.... that means perhaps
the new samsung pc3200 that sucks in everything might
very well hit above 500 in this board.....
For example if you ran 180 fsb on your 2.26b... that'd be 3.06ghz
then you'd have the multitude of dividers to get the highest
possible mem speed....
180* 2:3 mem ratio = 540 ddr (again assuming that samsung pc3200 properly supported could do this)
Just a thought....
Hard|OCP did a review of the board recently and their
board would only do 143 fsb, no matter what cpu (even an ES unlocked chip)
That's the only thing keeping me from trying one of these, if
anyone can find a review where they didn't encounter this problem....
I'm definitely buying in....
