I've been using 2x dtek db1's in series for the past 2 years and I'm thoroughly pleased with how quiet the pump is and how well it performs. The only recommendation I'd have is if there could be a smaller form factor version of it and if it could diminish the vibration (although, with Petra's gelstuff, vibration isn't a concern).

I was wondering if there have been any newer pumps manufactured that can compete against the DB-1 mainly in terms of silence.

Some pumps that have been around for a while are the lower power Eheim, but I think that pump is much bigger compared to the DB-1. The DDC 3.1 possibly, but I think it's still a bit louder than the DB-1.

Does anyone know the dims of these pumps? Also, what's with the "Power Consumption (at max): 18W" and "Power Consumption (at max): 9.6W", it's a little confusing.

18w .....max consumption @12v
9.6w.....max consumption @ 6v ...i think this is the minimum operating voltage...

Much like fans, I think certain pump's RPM / performance can be tweaked based on the voltage it's fed. Certain pumps though (I believe the DB-1 falls into this category) just don't support anything less than 12v. I tried a while ago and the pump wouldn't start up at anything less than 12v.

@NaeKuh
Wow, sweet man. Thanks for the info.

Anyone know what the chambers are made of? Isn't koolance the company that's known to put aluminum in their parts?

Thx.

@Hondacity
From a noise perspective, running 2 DB-1s is still near silent for me. So i have no qualms there. In fact, my yate loons spinning at ~900 rpm is more audible. From a space and loop setup perspective, having to deal with 2 pumps is a little annoying.

I'm very tempted to try my loop out w/ just 1 pump. At the moment, I have nothing major I'm trying to cool so I should be fine...

Is the pmp 300 (@ full) supposed to be as quiet as the D5 (@ setting 2) at least?

Did the PMP 300 ever get tested with resulting charts like the D5 and Martin?

his words were, its not XS par... :rofl:

then i asked him how quiet was it... he said your better off getting a D5 downvolting + insulating like a shoggy sandwitch.
