Haha, when I read the title I thought it meant the 3d clocks of fermi :p: Since there was a lot of talk lately about whether nvidia would hit their target clocks or not. Oh well, let's wait some more for that :D

the PS3 is by FAR the best blueray player,,,and last i looked (a while ago) they where cheaper then most blueray players...that is FAIL on the marketing end of blueray manufactures IMO

That definitely isn't true. The PS3 couldn't even bitstream for the longest time.

Now back to topic. It is pretty ridiculous if people are going to need to purchase a new player for 3D. If this specification couldn't have been added to all players via a firmware update, then it shouldn't have even been considered. This is what, the third time that most bluray players will become obsolete. What a winning idea. http://smiliesftw.com/x/rolleyes.gif (http://smiliesftw.com)

My LG BluRay Burner better be able to play this with PowerDVD 9 I bought. I spent too much money on BluRay to have Sony change the spec and screw me and millions of others.

I love the taste of early adopter tears. DVD all the way, you can keep your idiotic glasses.

Knowing Cyberlink likely not. You'll likely need to buy PowerDVD 10

DVDs on the PS3 look pretty nice to me. the bitrate of a nicely encoded DVD is much higher quality than ANY comcast labeled HD channel. (i wish someone makes a a law where you cant call something HD unless its 12Mbit/s at mpeg2 or greater)

Holy Betamax batman Sony is moving its technology forward! It's almost like they are trying to make money or something.

The way they are doing 3D with this you could have also done on DVD.

I'm still watching regular DVD thru an MDP-130 upconverting tuner. Working for years with a Barton 2500.

Except that would be low? I'm pretty sure the BBC was streaming its HD content at 16Mbit/s mpeg 4 until recently.

You must have literally the worst HDtv provider in the known universe.

If a 9mbit dvd mpeg2 video looks better upscaled on your ps3 than a native 1080i video from your set top box your being screwed hard.

BBC HD broadcasts at roughly 16-18mbit mpeg4, SKY HD is slightly lower I think, I dont think any UK HD provider uses mpeg2 for anything.

I looked at some huge 3D hdtvs in akihabra japan recently and to be honest I wasnt really all that impressed.. bit gimmicky

no.. it's not. for so many reasons. if your looking for the "best BluRay player ever" you can start by looking at Pioneers BDP-LX91

fios aint much better (its just not always as bad, the best comcast gives is about the same as fios, they just have less crappy channels). and i havnt seen the picture of satellite in a decade, so im not sure how good that looks, but if one of them is claiming 1080P, then i hope they also have a much higher bitrate.

About time, PC has had 3D for 18 months now, been waiting for the rest to catch up for a while. Expecting a Patch to support this for PowerDVD9?
