Only had about an hour or so last night to play with the new bios, so this is just all preliminary info.

2312 10.5x166 Turbo mem

Sandra CPU 4827/2418
MultiMedia 9594/11134
Memory 2514/2382
3dMark2k1 12293

2812 same settings

Sandra CPU 4828/2418
Multimedia 9596/11090
Memory 2526/2385
3dMark2k1 12225

I've got some other comparisons, but for the sake of space, I'll save 'em for later. At 10x180 I finally saw some minor improvements in the Sandra benchies, but 3dMark wouldn't even run. I guess I need to figure that one out......but for now I just thought I'd share my limited observations.

Firstly what ram are you running?

If it's ram that can handle the high speeds. Relax your settings a little bit. Then try and see if 3Dmark will run.

Obviously other factors may affect your ability to run 3DMark at that speed. You gota start somewhere.

Samsung PC2700 ctl/cb3 batch. I've probably needed to relax the timings on it for quite a while, mainly because I've never succeeded in going any higher than 182mhz successfully. There's more in the processor and I know the ram should be able to take it.....

Just for the sake of getting it to run, maybe I shouldn't overclock the video card at these speeds either........

If it's original Samsung cb3. On Samsung PCB. There are some people running the stuff up to 230 mhz. Obviously with relaxed timings.

Yes you should initially cut down the over clock on the video card.

Don't forget other components in a system can also cut down your total overclockability eg nic, harddrive, soundcard.

I think the main thing lower the timings. Try cl 2.5-3-6-3- Dram burst length4, 2t command, DCLK I/O-Auto, etc

Disable L2 ECC checking.

Disable Vid card shadowing, Bios Shadowing.

AGP aperture 256mb ,4x AGP

Hope this helps,

EDIT: some of the settings like looser ram timings will lower 3DMark but you have to start somewhere.

Yup, the original stuff on the Samsung PCB.

Okay, so I've got the system at a bare minimum already, no nic, no sound card nothin' - just for running my benchmarks :D I'll get home tonight and lower the memory timings down and see what happens. All the other settings you mentioned, I've already taken care of those.

Thanks for the help and suggestions, and I'll be posting later tonight with some results.......

O.K M8..........:)

Looking forward to seeing some good numbers from your setup.

I gave the new BIOS a go tonight and this is the best I could come up with on air cooling.

AXP 2000+ @ 1.86GHz (186 x 10.0)
GF4 Ti4600 @ 335/750

WCPUID (http://home.attbi.com/~spqqky69/wcpuid8k3aa.jpg)

13,020_3DMark2001se (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4214229)

It's a pretty damn good BIOS. My best 3DMark on this setup with the 2508 BIOS was 13,067 with the Ti4600 @ 347/774 and 203MHz fsb.
