Anyone have any experience with this thermal material? I am currently waiting on a shipment to arrive to try it versus my AS5.

I use it. Works pretty good, look at sig. The only problem is it is like peanut butter, hard to apply, and it takes at least 3 days to burn in if not longer.

I read a review/shoot-out that made it seem that it took a couple of days to cure to. I think the reported temp drops were about 3-4C over this time though. I can definately live with that. That's amazing, especially since I am trying to get temps down with my IC7-G.

it's pretty good, got better results with it than AS3, just a PITA to apply.

I have the G751 and it's a friggin' hassle applying it to the CPU. I could never get a really good application down. I haven't used AS5, but my guess is that it will work as well or better and it won't be such a pain.

G-751 is great stuff.
After using it I'll never go back to that nasty
staining Silver stuff. ;)
You are right about it being tricky to apply though.
But once you get the knack it's a piece of cake.

is there some kind of tool to apply it with?

Nope, there isn't a tool. I always use a plastic baggy wrapped around my finger to spread thermal grease. I've heard of people using a toothpick to roll out G751 but it never worked for me. Some also say that sticking the syringe in really hot water will make it easier to spread but I didn't have much luck with that either.

On my experience i bought 5 sticks of the G751 paste and 5 sticks of the Shinetsu X paste. The X paste was better then the g751 by a few celcius. The artic Silver 5 blew both of them away with a 5 celcius drop. So I think Artic Silver 5 is the best paste u can buy now for both phase change and air cooling. and water cooling

have you seen tests on overclockers.com. im not sure what
to make of their tests..

I too have seen reviews where AS5 beats both Shin Etsu
compounds.
However, I don't think they realize how much the temps
drop after a few days.

One test I saw only let them run over night before final temps
were taken. (8-10 hours)
Surely not enough to let the Shun Etsu fully "cure".

And as far as application ...
... heating the tube in boiling water for several minutes works
great for me. That G-751 softens right up. But be quick as
it cools very quickly once it makes contact with the core.

i've had good luck with shin etsu "X" stuff, but i don't think i've used the G-751.

of course i haven't kept myself up to date and i didn't even know that there was an AS5 out...
