Hi everyone,
I recently cleaned all my fans and my rad and noticed I could probably improve my WC setup. I haven't paid much attention to WC components in a while but at the time I did this loop the best block was the fuzionV2. I bought the extra quad inserts and found a deal on a DAngerden GTX480 so I went with that since my enormous case would accommodate it.

1st of all I am always paranoid of it leaking cuz its getting old. also I noticed im still using 4 yate med speed fans:

Model: D12SM-12

RPM: 1650 +/- 10%
CFM: 70.5
dB: 33

these were 4 bux at jabtech at the time.

they are starting to wear and I wouldnt mind push/pull with the rest of spots on this rad. (besides the radbox)
Noise isnt a problem at all. I think I breathe louder than these.

I went to the jabtech site and looked at the 120mm fans and looked for the highest cfm/lowest dba/ under $10

I finally narrowed it down to these 2 fans

Scythe KAZE-JYUNI "SLIP STREAM" 120mm Case Fan : SY1225SL12SH
http://www.jab-tech.com/Scythe-KAZE-JYUNI-SLIP-STREAM-120mm-Case-Fan-SY1225SL12SH-1900rpm-pr-3945.html

1,900 rpm
37.00 dBA
110.31CFM
DC12V
0.53 A
Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25 mm
Weight: 115g
Connector: 3-pin (3-pin to 4pin adapter included)
Bearing Type: Sleeve Bearing
MTBF: 30,000 hours
$7.99 ea

and this one:

Cooljag Everflow 120x120x25 PWM Fan - R121225BU AF
http://www.jab-tech.com/Cooljag-Everflow-120x120x25-PWM-Fan-R121225BU-AF-pr-3847.html

Specifications:
Size: 120x120x25mm
Rated Voltage 12v
Operating Voltage 7 - 13.2v
Rated Current 0.40 Amp
Rated Power 4.8w
Rated Speed 2400 rpm
Max Air Flow 110.03CFM
Static Pressure 3.26mmH2O
Sound Level 39.5dB(A)
Weight 140g
Bearing Type 2 Ball Bearing
Connector 4pin PWM connector
$9.95 ea

Then I noticed the cooljag has 2 ball bearings instead of sleeve bearings. This is a bonus to me.

so would I benefit from these high cfm fans on a gtx480 or is this going to be louder than a my bloody valentine concert?

also I was considering getting a new cpu block. is the Watercool Heatkiller Rev. 3.0 Copper the best right now?

thanks. :)

heres my current rig.

the cooljag fans are the same as the silverstone fans fx121..they're awesome if you dont mind noise...

The high FPI rads love big fans. San Aces seem to be king on them. push/pull would work great also.

Pass on the slip streams. They work great for case fans, not worth much as rad fans. They just don't have the pressure needed. Gentle Typhoons are more preferred fan. They are not very loud and a push/pull on that rad would probably work pretty well.

As far as CPU blocks, HK 3.0 LT/CU or the new Swiftech XT. Those are kings atm. The temp difference is only a degree. Vapor's test put the XT in front, and another test I heard put the HK in front.

I like Swiftech's mounting system and the fact that you can mount big comp fittings without 45s if you wish to, so I recommend that.

What are your hardware specs?

okay I cant find the sanaces on jabtech but I am really curious about these cooljags. the dual ball bearing for $10 sounds like a steal.
I think those paired with the apogee Xt and some winter air will be really nice. I loved my apogee GT when I had it before the Dtek. Thanks for getting me up to speed.

FYI my main rig is:

you don't need to upgrade your cpu block..amd procs don't heat up like i7s...

the cooljag fan(silverstone fans) are almost as good as san ace without robbing your account....

if you like cheap heavy duty fans...koolance 120.38 hbks are awesome...ball bearing fans...

i dont think the typically recommended san ace's are found at retailers with the rare exception of a rather expensive 'reverse' fire sale of them here and there.

ive recommended the arctic cooling PWM fans to anyone and everyone who is looking for the 'fire and forget' type solution in terms of fans. i currently have five of these (http://www.jab-tech.com/Arctic-Cooling-120mm-PWM-Case-Fan-AF12025-PWM-pr-4412.html) daisy chained in my desktop: 3 of them are driven by the mainboard's CPU PWM fan header, the other two are connected to a custom-made PWM patch cable coming off my graphics card (xfx 4890 xxx edition).

in the rare event that my temperatures for some odd reason do happen to spike, on either the graphics card or the processor, both will up the speed on the corresponding fans automatically. the other added benefit of PWM fans is their stability in the lower RPM ranges. in other words, they are near silent if/when you want them to be, without the fear of being underpowered like some fans do when undervolted.

if it were me, and i happened to not mind the noise level that those cooljag fans may put out, i'd say go for them asap. PWM fans are where its at for me.

Yea, don't worry about changing your block out. The D-Tek is still fine for AMD.
