Damn, you guys are aware :)

Thanks for the kind welcome.

I wanted to start a lil' thread about how I fixed a broken GTX260 and put it to good use.

I am GPUGRID newbie, but exploring fast.

I hope that at a nice OC of 680 core and 1260 mem it can crunch well.

You know we're on top of it!

And great idea for a thread... hope it works well, I can't remember who said theirs went out...

P.S. - shaders make the most impact here, so if you're OCing, pay special attention to that number!

Edit: Are you Aerosupra on WCG? If so congrats on those numbers!

Thanks guys. I already feel like home here

Yes, Aerosupra on WCG and pretty everywhere else :) WCG is my focus, they research health threats that strike my family and friends.

Does it impact performanc negatively, if I run shaders UNLINKED to the CORE on GPUGRID?

I didn't get a lot of time investigating core clocks on grid before my card failed but unlinking and pushing shaders higher will get better results than staying linked

Welcome ... we always like to see double crunchers (WCG & GPU) ... you are both determined and committed

Thanks fellow Spartan :toast:

When it comes to tech, saving something, whether it is a an OLD laptop or such a fine graphics card, from being tossed away, is one of the best feelings and achievements for me. Damn, and when it stands up on its feet and starts fighting for our own good, that's IS the best thing

No it will not effect anything running unlinked. I believe most of us here run unlinked and just clock the shaders. Rumors say core and or mem clocks will have some benefit, but from my experience it does not do anything; Just shaders.

What card did you fix? is it a 216 or 192? I have my GTX 260-216 running @1620 on the shaders. I have it set to 1637, but reads 1620 on the graph using evga precision. Hope this helps and thanks again for your contribution to the team:up:

A 65nm GTX260-216, running at 680 / 1466 / 1260 at stock volts and modded stock cooling. While running GPUGRID its at 50 - 51 °C and fan at 70% (2440 rpm).

I will get back ti it tune the shaders then

The poor card had a corrupt VGA bios, slightly broken heat-sink, etc. I would be a shame to let it be

Nice job aerou. Now OC, what the hell you doing with a corrupt BIOS? Lucy....you got some splaining to do...

Nice work:up:

I have mine @ 626/1637/1053 according to precision. If I recall, PG says he has problems with the 65nm cards on gpugrid, but you may have better luck. Keep an eye out for errors, etc. I hope that card holds up well for you:up:

It is an EEPROM, it is easy to damage it. Cause unknown, but I flashed it through wires connected to my motherboard. Looked ghetto. but did the job
