Just managed to run through with the core @ 595 ( Default is 400 this is a NON ultra card))

Next aim is a run through @ 600mhz and push the mem a bit more...:)
7K is the aim next, before i retire this card...

I think I can do 7k if I really tried, I haven't opened 3DMark03 for months. I'm on air and no volt mods though.

Yeah I think its just because 03 doesn't matter as much. I really tried for my 01 score but I haven't employed that kind of effort for 03.

I'm #1 for my category for 3DMark01....3400Mhz/5900.

the max core i can get on mine without lockup is 517... is the stock cooling stopping me from going higher? ;)
what compagny did the card?
I would go after you on air but I'm not sure what mods to do... if there's any I could do.

My card is the Asus FX5800...im pretty sure most of the 5800 non ultra,s were all the same except for the sticker on the HSF ass.

Stanard mine would lockup @ 495 I then added a modded P4 cooler ( machined the base to 3mm ) and added ramsinks which i milled from aluminium.
I could then run the core @ 520 BUT temps were still way to high... Now with the Vapo i run all games @ 595 mem 1050.

As to whether you add better cooling on the core/mem...depends on whether its worth your time and effort to gain a little more from the card..

I will be getting wc soon... I hope it will help me achieving better results. Right now rivatuner won't let me go beyond 1g on mem... I've just downloaded it and i'm not use to it at all... how do I counter that?
Btw, I will put all the time and effort needed.... got a full month of vacation starting thursday.

I dont use Rivatuner for o/clocking. I use Powerstrip...it lets you have options of 630(core) ...1260(mem)....:)

The heatsink is a moded P4 cooler...i just machined the base to 3mm and milled a section aroungd the GPU and then tapped the base so it could be securered using socket head cap screws...

The memsinks i milled from aluminium bar.....30min work on a turrentmill..:)

I am a Gunsmith by trade so i am quite used to "Fiddley" stuff...
