This is in 2D Mode, it's not PowerPlay.

I'll be doing something simple as scrolling down a webpage and the 3D Clocks will kick in...is that normal?

I'm overclocked from 680 to 760 and reference clocks are 625...

2D I've got set to 350 and it will just jump to 760 with as little as a 1% load.

Anything I can do to help that?

Are you using the hardware accelerated flash? When it first came out the Nvidia cards clocked up to full speed.

Umm, I dont use aero so I couldnt disable something already disabled. :P
I could flash the original BIOS file but I was jsut trying to same some energy...

Maybe this has been happening all along and I havent noticed it but I did when I downclocked the card.

(Sorry for the DP)

I think I found the issue. I edited a third profile in the BIOS which seemed to be a "middle mode"...it was set to 3D clocks of 680/2100...I put it down to 500/750 and it only jumps to that now. I'll set it lower and we will see...

EDIT:

I flashed a bit more aggressively at 300/500 and now I can't boot into windows. I just get a black screen. Great, now I'm in a hole I jsut dug for myself and I can't get out of. I'm in safe mode, the thing wont even work in VGA mode (640x480)

I can't flash back either, because of safe mode not letting my card be seen by programs. I'll uninstall the driver through device manager and see if I can boot normally. This is one big pain in the neck...

beepbeep, I got a feeling you misunderstood safan :D

hardware accelerated flash = hardware accelerated flash player made by adobe, not flashing your card :p

Why aren't you making a DOS floppy or USB boot disk and booting to flash with ATIflash in DOS prompt (not windows?).

LOL I know what he was saying but I noticed the 2D/3D clocks after I flashed a modified BIOS with lower idle clocks...:P

Because it was a bit simpler to do in WinDOS...I do have a USB boot disk I use for Memtest86+ and Ubuntu...
