I am diving (like my play on words :hehe:) into the fun filled world of Water/TEC cooling and am curious about tubing recommendations.

I have seen people talk of I.D. and of O.D. tubing...what should I go with?

I.D =Inside Diameter
O.D = outside Diameter

Get CLearFLEX60 that is ½" ID and ¾ OD.
Or you could buy TYGON tubing but it's really more expensive and is about the same

I'm using Tygon half inch I.D. I like volume it moves .it helps @ -30c when the coolant in my chiller flows like syrup. It also has an eighth inch wall for suport . My radiator system has 3/8 I.D and it does fine. stay away from cheep tubing that will fold or kink or colapse.

ClearFlex60 is some really good stuff. The only reason you would need Tygon is if you plan on running some really cold water through it. Tygon is rated to handle lower temps and more caustic fluids; and caustic fluids may be needed to run some of those really low temps.

hey, JfRsQ you know the brittle temp on the clearflex offhand?

I dont plan on using a chiller or ice in the water most of the time. Just a plain ole closed loop...prob wont even go with a res either.

Its looking like the ClearFlex so far...price advantage. I wonder who makes Swiftechs hose they are selling..its only $2 for 10ft...wowza.

I'm using clearflex, it tygon and masterkleer are all about the same, unless you run like less than -15C, then you want Tygon.

BTW, ClearFlex60 can be found most cheaply at www.mcmaster.com. It's something like 70 cents a foot.

Its not listed as clearflex. They call it Chemical PVC hose or something like that. It should be $0.65 a foot. I'll get the part number off the invoice when I get off work

TYGON tubing seems to be very good.. i use regular pvc tubs, they are quite stiff.

do you know any home improvement stores that sell clearflex or tygon locally? or do you just have to measure and order it?

I've looked but havnt had any luck. I figure a lot of places that would have might not sell to the public.

Its an odd thing for most of us, any component you need thats in the least for a extreme rig isnt something you can buy locally. :hehe:
